Poker players are about to descend to the Catalonian capital of Barcelona with the Campeonato de Espa?a de Poker once again returning to the Casino Barcelona on Feb. 7-16.

The casino not only boasts one of the biggest poker rooms in Europe but also is located just steps away from the sand and surf of the Mediterranean Sea.

Event Highlights

There is something for everyone attending the CEP with buy-ins ranging from as low as 60 to as high as 1,000. In addition, there are plenty of qualifiers littered throughout the schedule and even before the official festival begins that cost just 12!

The festival begins with the very affordable CEP Opening Event featuring a 150 buy-in. The tournament features two opening days on Feb. 7 and 8 with surviving players converging for one final day on Feb. 9.

Players will start off with 20,000 in chips and compete in 30-minute blind levels from beginning to end.

Those with bigger bankrolls will have their eyes on CEP High Roller featuring 45-minute blind levels and 30,000 in starting chips on Feb. 10-11. The tournament features a 1,000 buy-in but players can get in for a fraction of the cost in satellites ranging from 60 to 110.

The highlight of the festival is easily the CEP Main Event on Feb. 12-16. The tournament boasts a reasonable 500 but there will be plenty of players joining in on the action via satellites starting at just 12.

This event provides the deepest structure during the festival with players starting with 30,000 in chips and blinds increasing 50 minutes on the first three opening flights on Feb. 12-14. There is a turbo Day 1d on Feb. 15 featuring 20-minute blind levels for those looking to still hoping to find a bag.

Players advancing to Day 2 on Feb. 15 and the Final Day on Feb. 16 will enjoy an even deeper structure of one-hour blind levels.

While the event is dubbed the Spanish Poker Championships, anyone can play. This was proved the last time the CEP came to Casino Barcelona when France's Fabien Lecardonnel bested a field of 1,733 entrants to win the 110,000 ($123,111) top prize.

Of course, the cash games that Casino Barcelona is well-known for will also be running around the clock during the festival giving players something to play any time during the day or night.
