Poker players around the world will soon have their chance at glory with the World Series of Poker (WSOP) kicks off its International Circuit in sunny Marrakech.
The WSOP Circuit Marrakech festival takes place at the luxurious Casino de Marrakech, located in the heart of the Es Saadi Marrakech Resort, with the ten action-packed days on Jan. 10-19, 2020.
The schedule boasts 24 tournaments including 10 events where players can win a coveted WSOP Circuit gold ring. PokerNews will be on hand to cover the biggest event of them all, the WSOP Circuit Marrakech Main Event on Jan. 16-19.
Learn About the WSOP Circuit Marrakech Main Event
The WSOP Circuit Marrakech Main Event features a 15,000 MAD (approx. 1,400) buy-in. Many players will have gotten in for a fraction of the cost via online qualifiers at PMU.fr and through live satellites littered throughout the festival's schedule.
It should come as little surprise that the WSOP Circuit Main Event boasts an amazing structure. Players begin play with 30,000 in chips and compete in 45-minute blind levels during the two opening flights on Jan. 16-17.
Those with deeper pockets will have plenty of chances to build a big stack with both flights allowing for unlimited re-entries until late registration closes at the start of Level 10.
The structure only gets deeper from there with blind levels increasing to one hour in length for the final two days until a winner is crowned on Jan. 19.
The WSOP Circuit visited Marrakech twice last year, thus crowning two Main Event winners.
Sonny Franco claimed the first Main Event title after he bested a field of 544 entrants in January 2019 for 1,500,000 MAD ($156,862) to win his fourth career WSOP Circuit ring.
A few months later, the festival came back with a bang for its 50th-anniversary edition. United Kingdom's Phillip Huxley found his way to the winner's circle to claim 947,780 ($99,632) after agreeing to a heads-up deal with Portugal's Andr Marques.
Franco and Huxley both received a free entry valued at $10,000 to the 2019 WSOP Global Poker Championship after their respective wins last year. This tradition will live on this year as both the Main Event winner and the WSOP Circuit Marrakech Leaderboard winner will also win seats to the 2020 WSOP Global Poker Championship at Harrah's Cherokee in North Carolina in August 2020.
Action Around the Clock
The Casino de Marrakech will be bustling with poker activity with a full slate of tournaments and cash games running at stakes low and high around the clock.
There are side events for every type of poker player. Lower stakes players will be able to enjoy events with buy-ins as low as 180 or attempt to qualify into bigger events with satellites starting at just 45.
Players looking to play a little bigger will have plenty to choose from including the 20,000 MAD (1,900) WSOP Circuit High Roller on Jan. 15-16 and the 30,000 MAD (2,800) WSOPC Super High Roller on Jan. 19.
