Shannon Shorr Wins Second WSOP Online Bracelet This Month; Denise Pratt Nabs Her First

Shannon Shorr entered the month of October without a World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet to his name. He now has two, while Denise Pratt claimed her first WSOP win in a high roller during the same series.

Shorr, a long-time poke pro, took down WSOP Online Series Event #27: $1,000 No-Limit Hold'em Freezeout on Thursday for $35,539, beating out 186 entrants. There were 36 spots paid and John Ripnick finished runner-up for $25,612 on the WSOP.com poker site in Nevada.

Shorr, who plays under the screen name "aulophobia," now has 142 cashes in bracelet events, making him one of the most prolific performers ever at the World Series of Poker. But until he took down Event #17: $2,000 No-Limit Hold'em 6-Max earlier this month, he hadn't collected a gold bracelet.

Entering what would be the final hand of his second WSOP title, Shorr held a 2.5/1 chip advantage over his heads-up opponent, Ripnick ("Relevancy"). With the blinds at 20,000/40,000, he limped the button with A?5? and the big blind checked to see a flop of 5?5?7?.

Action checked to Shorr, who bet 40,000 with trips before being check-raised to 128,000. A call was made and then the 6? appeared on the turn. The big blind again checked and then called a bet of 203,000.

When the J? brought in a potential flush, "Relevancy" checked one more time, and then called off his final remaining 738,000 with K?7?, which of course wasn't good enough to win the hand. That ended the tournament at just after midnight and gave Shorr his second gold bracelet this month.

On top of his two online bracelets, Shorr has a lengthy history of greatness in live tournaments. His live cashes are worth $11.9 million, according to The Hendon Mob, making him Alabama's all-time leader by a long-shot (Hoyt Corkins is in second place with just over $6 million). Denise Pratt Wins Her First WSOP Bracelet

Shorr almost won a third bracelet this series in Event #24: $3,200 No-Limit Hold'em High Roller Championship. But he fell just a bit short in third place for $44,650.

With his exit, that created an all-female heads-up match for the bracelet between Kristen Foxen, who won her first bracelet last month, and Denise Pratt, who was chasing her first WSOP title.

Although Pratt isn't as well-known in poker as Foxen, a regular in the high-stakes streets for years, she does have a history of impressive results, including over $280,000 in The Hendon Mob cashes. And now she has a World Series of Poker online bracelet to her resume as she defeated Foxen heads-up in the high roller. Pratt received $104,690 for the win, the largest score of her career, while the runner-up collected $68,400.

The champion defeated a stacked final table that included Andrew Lichtenberger (seventh place for $13,250) and newly minted Poker Hall of Famer Brian Rast (sixth place for $18,240),
