Daniel Sepiol Wins Again! This Time At The Wynn WPT Alpha8 Trifecta

The first two $25,000 buy-in WPT Alpha8 Trifecta events have both crowned winners at the Wynn Las Vegas.
Brock Wilson won the WPT Alpha8 Trifecta #1 last week, breaking a brutal streak of bad luck. His $571,400 payday marks a significant improvement to his fortunes.
Wilson's WPT Alpha8 Trifecta #1 final tablemate, Daniel Sepiol, then went on to win WPT Alpha8 Trifecta #2 on June 5, earning $672,000.
The third and final WPT Alpha8 Trifecta event is scheduled to kick off on July 10. All three events play out against the backdrop of the Wynn Summer Classic a two-month and 98-event long poker festival that finishes up on July 17.
Brock Wilson Breaks His Streak
WPT Alpha8 Trifecta #1 kicked off on July 25. The event attracted total of 78 entries, for a prize pool of $1,864,200 from which a check for $571,400 was cut for whoever came first.
Wilson was ready for a win after a long run of striking out in poker tournaments. In his winner's interview, Wilson told the WPT that he "probably bricked 10 or 15 bullets straight" in the run-up to this event.
This win also broke another bad luck streak for Wilson �� he had never won a high roller event before. Wilson had come close a few times, with four previous second-place finishes in $25k and $50k events. These close run things included his previous biggest score �� a $619,536 second-place finish in the 2019 PartyPoker MILLIONS World Bahamas $25,000 High Roller. But having come so close so many times, he was still hungry for the gold.
��I play a lot of these WPTs, and this is by far my biggest accomplishment to date,�� Wilson said of his victory. ��It feels really good to just outright win it, and this trophy is the coolest one that I��ve seen.��
Wilson's final table was a tough one with high-stakes regulars like Artur Martirosian, Matthias Eibinger, and Daniel Sepiol who went on to win WPT Alpha8 Trifecta #2.

Daniel Sepiol is on a Run
Where Brock Wilson was glad to break a run of bad luck, Daniel Sepiol seems to be in the midst of a run of very good luck.
Sepiol final tabled the WPT Alpha8 Trifecta #1 for a $77,400 payday and won his first WSOP bracelet in the 2024 $1,500 Shootout a few weeks before that. He had also cashed 11 other times at this year's WSOP, took first and second in two PGT Texas Poker Open $5ks back in April, and ended 2023 by winning the WPT World Championship.
So, it was just business as usual when he outlasted the rest of the 108-entry field to win WPT Alpha8 Trifecta #2 for $672,000.
With $2,581,200 in the prize pool and $672,000 up top, there was everything to play for when the final 19 players returned on Day 2. However, Sepiol took the chip lead early on and held it for the rest of the day, running his opponents into the ground one after another. Eventually, he found himself heads up with Jonathan Cohen.
Heads-up play did not last long, and Cohen soon headed for the cashier to pick up his $450,000 prize for second place.
