Georgios Skarparis is a Cypriot poker player best known for winning Event #78: $1,000 Mini Main Event No-Limit Hold'em at the 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP) in Las Vegas.
Skarparis' first recorded live results came in August 2015 in Birmingham, United Kingdom. He did not register another result until February 2019. The Cyprus native cashed in five events between February 2019 and December 2021 before upping the ante and significantly increasing his volume from 2022 onward.
In July 2022, Skarparis finished second in the $3,300 Metro Poker Retro Series in North Cyprus for $167,070. He narrowly missed out on a WSOP Circuit ring in September 2023, finishing fifth in a �550 No-Limit Hold'em event at WSOPC Tallinn.
During the 2024 WSOP, Skarparis won a $250 No-Limit Hold'em PokerNews Daily Deepstacks event for $17,193 and followed that up with a handful of cashes at the Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas, the Aria, and The Wynn, including a $36,677 score for an 11th place finish in the $2,200 NLHE Mystery Bounty, part of the Wynn Summer Classic.
In July 2024, Skarparis outlasted 6,075 opponents in the $1,000 Mini Main Event No-Limit Hold'em for $554,925, his first bracelet, and became only the second-ever Cypriot to become a WSOP champion.
