Biography

Guy Laliberte is a Canadian billionaire businessman and keen poker player. He is best known for founding the Cirque Du Soleil, but by 2020 had sold all of his shares in the company. According to The Hendon Mob he has $2.5 million in total earnings.

Big One for One Drop

In 2007, Laliberte set up the One Drop initiative to support worldwide access to clean water.

As part of this initiative, he partnered with the WSOP to create the $1,000,000 Big One for One Drop in 2011 which was simultaneously the largest buy-in event and the most significant charity initiative in poker history.

Laliberte himself cashed in the original $1 million event with a fifth-place finish worth $1,834,666
