Born February 11, 1983, Rex Clinkscales grew up in San Antonio, Texas, but now splits his time between Las Vegas and the Philippines as a professional poker player.
Clinkscales began playing tournaments in 2010 when the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Circuit stopped at Caesars Las Vegas. It was there that he cashed three times for $3,980—Clinkscales was hooked. Over the next few years, the Texas native embarked on the WSOP Circuit and began to make a name for himself.
“I have never been the type of guy to work a nine-to-five job. Clocking in and being micro-managed day in and day out just wasn't appealing,” Clinkscales told PokerNews. “I love to travel and experience new places and meet people from different walks of life. Poker gives me the ability to do all of that. It isn't the easiest of "jobs," but to me it's the most rewarding.”
As of July 2022, Clinkscales has 75 WSOP Circuit cashes for $411,806 and one ring. That came in 2013 when he took down the WSOP Circuit Harrah’s Philadelphia $1,675 Main Event for $121,095.
Clinkscales also finished runner-up in both the 2011/2012 Harrah’s Rincon Event #1 $355 No-Limit Hold’em and 2012/2013 IP Biloxi Event #10 $365 No-Limit Hold’em for $13,504 and $8,460 respectively. He also had a third-place finish in the 2012/2013 Horseshoe Bossier City Event #10 $365 No-Limit Hold’em for $8,097 as well as another runner-up finish in the 2018 WSOP Circuit Harvey’s Lake Tahoe Event #12: $400 NLH One-Day for $8,590.
Since 2011, Clinkscales has amassed more than $1.7 million in live tournament earnings according to The Hendon Mob, including a career-best $162,354 for winning the 2017 WPTDeepStacks Tampa $1,100 Main Event.
In 2017, Clinkscales was named WPTDeepStacks Player of the Year.
