Legends Poker Room in Houston, Texas is one of the busiest and most action-packed places to play poker in the world. With 23 available tables, the card club has plenty of room for exciting games and hundreds of players.

There is just one issue, and it's a big one, with the poker room, which resides on Richmond Avenue, and that is safety within the complex has come into question over the past year.

In another instance, back in May 2022, a shooting at a nearby business took place. Fortunately, no one inside the poker room has been shot, but there are many local players who are concerned with the safety of playing at Legends.

Cash Games at Legends

Despite the safety concerns, Legends doesn't have much trouble attracting players to their poker room. The reason for that is the games are just so juicy, according to many locals.

Local grinders often say they make great money playing cash games at Legends Poker Room because many of the players there are, how do we say this, not very skilled at the game of poker. And many of those players have plenty of money to spend.

The cash games offered at are mostly low to mid-stakes, and typically play bigger than the blinds would suggest. For example, the $1/$3 no-limit hold'em game will often have thousands of dollars on the table, especially if it's been running for hours. The $2/$5 no-limit hod'em and $5/$10 NLH games are even bigger and equally juicy.

Pot-limit Omaha, starting at $1/$3 stakes is always a popular and action-packed game at Legends Poker Room. In fact, PLO is arguably the biggest draw to Legends.

There are many ways to earn free time when playing at Legends Poker Room. During Happy Hour (12 p.m. to 7 p.m.), players earn free time while playing $1/$3 games. Industry employees (with proof of employment) receive free play from midnight until 9 a.m.

Tournaments at Legends

Tournament poker is a rarity at Legends Poker Room. If you're in the area and want to play a tournament, you won't find it here. Cash games are what draws in players and the owners don't want to eliminate cash games to spread tournaments.

The only tournaments you'll find at Legends Poker Room are monthly freerolls. These Member Appreciation tournaments guarantee $50,000 in prize money awarded to those who have racked up hours of play during the previous month.

Sammy Farha Fight Incident

Sammy Farha, an old-school poker legend, has long been a local grinder in the Houston poker community. But his reputation within that community hasn't been great for quite some time. Many poker players in the area feel he treats dealers and his opponents poorly.

So when a dealer at Legends Poker Room in December 2021 clocked Farha, who famously lost a heads-up match to Chris Moneymaker to finish off the 2003 World Series of Poker Main Event, there were a number of local grinders who cheered and celebrated on social media.

Farha has always been a polarizing figure. He was a fan favorite during the poker boom era on High Stakes Poker, but he has also rubbed many within the poker community the wrong way, especially in Houston where he resides.
