The Gran Via cuts through the heart of Madrid. With luxurious shops and stunning architecture, it is one of the most picturesque sites for visitors to the Spanish capital. It is also the home of Casino Gran Via, which for the next five days plays host to the poker world starting with Day 1a of the �888 888poker LIVE Madrid Main Event at 5 p.m. local time.
Today is the first of four starting flights. Players begin with 50,000 chips and will play 11 45-minute levels on each of the first three flights. There is also a turbo Day 1d flight at 1 p.m. on January 28 with 20-minute levels. The remaining players then combine for Day 2 at 5 p.m. on the 28th and conclude with the crowning of a champion on January 29. Unlimited reentries are allowed, with late registration open until the start of Day 2.
The 888poker Team will be out in full force challenging for the title, including Vivian Saliba, Ian Simpson, Ricardo Mateus, and Lucia Navarro. Adrian Garcia won this event last year, beating a field of 514 entries to earn �92,000. Mateus and Navarro both made the final table, finishing in third and fourth place, respectively.
