XL Eclipse #32 - $500,000 Main Event
Day 1 Completed
After nearly 14 hours of play, Brazil's Francisco "chiconogue" Nogueira shipped the XL Eclipse #32 - $500,000 Main Event at 888poker for $57,826. Third place finisher "si1entb0b" from Russia walked away with the biggest prize of $61,622 thanks to a four-way deal made at the final table that left some money left to play for the eventual winner.
The event was a huge success with the guarantee smashed thanks to the 1,647 entrants and 517 reentries generating a $508,540 prize pool. A total of 207 players cashed for at least a mincash of $559.
A total of five 888poker Ambassadors entered the Main Event. Sofia "sofialovgren" Lovgren bowed out before the five-hour late registration period was closed. Fellow Ambassadors Dominik "888Dominik" Nitsche, Ana "AnaMarquez" Marquez, and 2014 WSOP Main Event Champion Martin "MJacobson888" Jacobson were all ousted within the first blind level after late registration ended.
Meanwhile, 888poker Ambassador Chris "888Moorman" Moorman was in for the maximum of four bullets and needed 90th place or better to book a profit. He did exactly that taking 90th place for $1,017 for a $17 profit after his king-queen couldn't get there against the ace-queen held by United Kingdom's "GusKi14."
The final table began more than 12 1/2 hours into the tournament after "Grafgreif" was eliminated in tenth place for $4.272. Russia's "si1entb0b" was in the chip lead to start off the action.
Russia's "ShowMustGo0n" (ninth - $5,492) was eliminated soon after the table began after their jack-nine couldn't get there against the ace-jack held by his countrymate "Lucky_Frutti."
Nogueira was able to then snag the chip lead after his aces held strong against the nines held by Germany's "midein." Not too much later, "midein" lost the rest of his chips to Nogueira to hit the rail in eighth place for $9,662 after their nine-seven suited was no match to ace-four suited.
"si1entb0b" was able to grab the chip lead back before Canada's "RedPantRed" eliminated Germany's "Matthew451" in seventh place for $14,493. "Matthew451" jammed the flop with flush draw holding queen-three suited but didn't complete it against the kings held by their opponent.
Brazil's Felipe "mr.salgado" Salgado then hit the rail in sixth place for $19,325 after his king-five couldn't improve against the ace-six suited held by Germany's "amaze1."
"RedPantRed" (fifth - $24,156) then lost a big flip with jacks to the ace-queen held by Russia's "Lucky_Frutti." Shortly after this hand, the remaining four players agreed to a deal with money left to play.
"Lucky_Frutti" was in second place when the deal was made but they were the next to go in fourth place for $57,661. This player called off a jam with top pair on the flop holding king-ten and didn't improve against the Nogueira's pocket aces.
"si1entb0b" had the chip lead when the deal was made and was able to secure the most money in the tournament. However, this player bowed out in third place for $61,622 when their ace-deuce suited didn't outshine Nogueira's big slick.
Nogueira entered heads-up play with a more than 4:1 chip lead against "amaze1." That chip lead was extended even further to a an almost 12:1 chip lead when the final hand took place. "amaze1" (second - $49,751) called off a jam for more than eight big blinds with eight-seven suited and wasn't able to get a double-up against their opponent's jack-nine suited.
