WPT DS #5 - $100,000 High Roller
Day 1 Completed
"PerfectShade" had to get there on the final hand, but they took down the top prize in the $100,000 High Roller for 2021 888Poker WPTDeepStacks London. They made it through the 50 runner field to take $32,000 home from the $100,000 prize pool. While the prize pool didn't beat the guarantee, the 40 entries and 10 rebuys hit the guarantee exactly.
Place | Player | Country | Prize |

2 | casual_win | United Kingdom | $22,500 |
3 | Sofia "sofialovgren" Lovgren | Sweden | $15,500 |
4 | IHaveNoBoss | Costa Rica | $11,000 |
5 | Dominik "888Dominik" Nitsche | Germany | $8,000 |
6 | Kroat. | United Kingdom | $6,000 |
7 | Vivian "vivi.888." Saliba | Brazil | $5,000 |
Action built slowly through the late registration period, and by the time everything was done, there were 40 unique entries with 10 rebuys. That meant the $100,000 was met exactly, to be divided between the top seven players.
There were just 16 players left in action when registration closed, but among them were three 888poker ambassadors. Vivian "vivi.888." Saliba, Dominik "888Dominik" Nitsche, and Sofia "sofialovgren" Lovgren all survived with chips.
The ambassadors all hit the final table with decent stacks. Lovgren had the biggest of the three, sitting in third overall, but both Nitsche and Saliba were significantly above the shortest stacks. Nitsche got a bit of a gift with kings blind on blind to survive eight-handed, and all three ambassadors made the money, though with the three shortest stacks.
Saliba was the first to fall in the money, sending her chips to Nitsche with a weaker ace and she was quickly followed by "Kroat.". They played five-handed for a while until Nitsche got the worst ace in and couldn't find help, ending in fifth place and leaving only Lovgren still standing from the ambassadors.
Lovgren managed to make it to third, when her over cards couldn't get there against the deuces of "casual_win". That set up a heads up battle with "PerfectShade" who held the chip lead for most of the final table.
"casual_win" actually started the heads up with the chip lead, but "PerfectShade" quickly fought back to the lead. Though "casual_win" made it back to even stacks at one point, "PerfectShade" dominated through most of heads up play. It finally ended when "PerfectShade" got there with a suited hand after shoving and running into queens.
The win for "PerfectShade" was worth $32,000, while "casual_win" won $22,500 for second.
"PerfectShade" shoved the big stack, and "casual_win" called off.
