Latvia's "i2out" was crowned the winner after more than 8 1/2 hours in play which included a back-and-forth heads-up battle against United Kingdom's "Tedson89".

It appeared that "Tedson89" would be the player to beat after single-handedly eliminating six out of the seven players at the final table and entered heads-up with a lead. Instead, the British poker player had to settle for the juicy runner-up prize of $29,300 for his return on the $525 buy-in.

Action of the Day

The WPTDS $200,000 Opening Event witnessed many big names in the field including 888poker Ambassadors Dominik "888Dominik" Nitsche, Sofia "sofialovgren" Lovgren, Vivian "vivi.888." Saliba, and Chris "888Moorman" Moorman. Unfortunately for the team, they were all sitting on the rail shortly after late registration closed and were unable to cash in the event.

The money bubble broke after "EastWestak" called off preflop with ace-jack and didn't get there against the queens held by "sheeeeeeeeet". The remaining 48 players cashed for at least $1,420 and eliminations began taking place at a fast and furious pace with the bigger money jumps reserved for the final table.

This included many regulars at 888poker with Felipe "mr.salgado" Salgado (34th - $1,440), "ContaSagrada" (25th - $1,460), "kistkutya23" (22nd - $1,480), and "SpielerKind" (18th - $1,520) all cashing before hitting the rail before the final table.

Before long, "Jefffrr8" was ousted in 10th place for $2,380 after their queen-ten suited didn't get there again the ace-four held by "i2out".

Final Table Action

The final table began with "kalleanka35" with the chip lead and "i2out" sitting near the bottom of the pile in sixth place. "Tedson89" took over the lead while storming over the first four opponents at the final table including "KelevraJesus" (sixth - $8,160), "raw_dawg" (seventh - $5,960), "NuttedOn875" (eighth - $4,380), and "Brilliant" (ninth - $3,220) and had more than half of the chips in play.

"kalleanka35" (fifth - $11,180) was then short on chips and didn't get their ten-nine suited to hold against the eight-six held by "i2out".

"Tedson89" then eliminated two players with big slick. First, they took out Maksim "MAMOHT_T" Viktorovich in fourth place for $15,420 when his big slick held against ace-queen. "torresfan03" followed him to the rail shortly after in third place for $21,300 when their queen-seven was no match for big slick.

"Tedson89" held a 2:1 chip advantage over "i2out" when heads-up play began. The battle was back-and-forth with "Tedson89" on the ropes before he came back to regain the chip lead. "Tedson89" was short again on chips when they couldn't get ace-nine to hold against king-six to hit the exit in second place for $29,300.

Meanwhile, a huge congrats to "i2out" for winning the WPTDS London #1 - $200,000 Opening Event for $40,540!
