Time To Break

Level 28 : 40,000/80,000, 0 ante

It's closing in on 12 hours since the day started here at the 2012 ANZPT Sydney Main Event. For now though, it's a 10-minute break. See you back here soon.

Huntly Loses Some To Aston

Liam O'Rourke folded his button and Gordon Huntly raised it up to 180,000 in the small blind. Anthony Aston made the call in the big blind and some cards were dealt on the felt.

Flop: {4-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}

On the flop, Huntly led for 225,000 and Aston made the call as a {6-Spades} would hit the turn. This time Huntly would opt to check and Aston would bet 330,000. This was too much for huntly as he sent his cards into the muck and the pot to Aston.

Stewart Ballard Eliminated in 4th Place (A$62,696)

Stewart Ballard - 4th Place
Stewart Ballard - 4th Place

After more than two hours, another elimination has occurred. The player in question was Stewart Ballard and the last hand of his night saw him get his stack all in preflop holding {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}.

"Please tell me you have Ace-King," said Ballard when Gordon Huntly made the call.

Unfortunately for Ballard, Huntly would turn over {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts} to be in great shape against Ballard. When the board ran out {4-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}, Ballard made his way to the exit in a gallant 4th place. For that effort Ballard took down A$62,696.

O'Rourke Back Up

The first truly big hand of the last couple of hours has finally taken place. It started when all four players took to a {9-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{q-Diamonds} flop. All players checked the flop and the {10-Hearts} hit the turn. Gordon Huntly checked and Anthony Aston bet 150,000. Liam O'Rourke made the call and so did Stewart Ballard. It was then back on Huntly and he also made the call as all four players saw the {5-Diamonds} hit the river.

This time the play was checked to O'Rourke who bet 400,000. Ballard made the call and Huntly gave a chuckle as he threw his cards away.

"I'm not as good as you, I'm gonna take longer to make my decision," said Aston. Eventually he threw his cards in the muck.

O'Rourke tabled {k-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} for a rivered flush, trumping the {k-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} of Ballard for the turned straight.

O'Rourke's Chips Go Huntly's Way

Liam O'Rourke opened it up to 175,000 on the button and Gordon Huntly came along for the ride in the big blind. The {2-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} flop was spread across the felt and Huntly went with a check-call when O'Rourke bet 160,000.

The {2-Spades} on the turn saw Huntly again check and this time O'Rourke bet 325,000. Huntly again called and the {a-Diamonds} hit the river. Huntly put in another check and this time so did O'Rourke.

When Huntly turned over his {k-Clubs}{j-Spades} for simply king-high, O'Rourke cringed and sent his cards into the muck.

Aston Takes Hit

We caught the action in a hand between Gordon Huntly and Anthony Aston on the turn with a board showing {k-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{5-Spades}. Huntly was set to act and opted to check. Aston led out for 230,000 and Huntly made the call as a {7-Clubs} hit the river. This time Huntly would lead, throwing out 500,000. It was enough to get Aston out of the hand as Huntly raked in the pot.

Ballard Turns Set

Level 27 : 30,000/60,000, 5,000 ante

Stewart Ballard opened up the action to 130,000 from under the gun and received calls from Gordon Huntly on the button and Liam O'Rourke in the big blind.

Flop: {3-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}

On the flop, O'Rourke checked and Ballard bet 175,000. Huntly made the call and O'Rourke got out of the way as the {4-Clubs} hit the river. Again Ballard checked and Huntly did the same.

When Ballard turned over his {5-Spades}{5-Diamonds}, the set was enough to take down the hand little pot.
