Hanes Hanging On

It's not looking good for Johnny Hanes. He is trimmed down to a very, very short stack of about 16,000 and recently survived an all in. Murun Agvaan-ochir opened the pot for 5,500, with Hanes calling from the small blind and the big blind calling all in for less. On a flop of {8-Spades} {10-Spades} {j-Diamonds}, Hanes moved in his last 7,900. Agvaan-ochir agonized briefly before calling for a three-way showdown.

Agvaan-ochir: {A-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs}
Hanes: {9-Clubs} {10-Clubs}
Big blind: {q-Diamonds} {10-Hearts}

The big blind was in the lead for the main pot, but Hanes was in the lead for the larger side pot. With each man shouting for the card he wanted to see hit the board, the dealer peeled off the {5-Clubs} and the {J-Spades}. That left Hanes as the winner for the side pot and the big blind as the winner of the main pot. There was no elimination on the hand, but all three players remain well short.
