ANZ Player of the Year Race Blown Right Open

This event is the last chance for players to grab the ever-important player of the year points. What's even more important about this tournament is that the points are valued at 1.5 due to the higher buy-in. One of the players in the room who started the day with the best chance to finish up as the ANZ Player of the Year is Anthony Aston. Currently Aston is sitting at the top of the leader board, with Mishel Anunu and Didier Guerin close behind. However, Aston will now have to watch on from the sidelines, as he has recently been eliminated from this tournament.

We didn't catch all the action, but we did see his short-stack all in preflop holding {k-Hearts}{j-Clubs} against the {8-Clubs}{8-Hearts} of an opponent. No help came on the board and Aston was sent packing.

Aston will now be watching on with baited breath, hoping that his nearest rivals on the leader board are eliminated soon.
