If you're ever looking for Jay Philips in the poker field, just look for the color purple. More often than not she's donning something plum-colored, be it a jacket or fedora.
Philips, who hails from Minnesota, was on the East Coast for business and decided to come down to the Borgata last night to spend the weekend playing some poker. Today, she's competing in Event #13: $560 Super Survivor looking for a $5,000 payday. She knows how to do it too as last year she cashed this very event.
Philips, who is a regular on the Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT), has amassed more than $74,000 playing tournament poker with her best cash being $6,516 for finishing fifth in the 2015 Running Aces CSP April Fool's Main Event. Other scores on her poker resume include 180th in the 2017 Borgata Summer Poker Open Event #1: $550 Deepstack for $1,220 and 106th in the 2014 Borgata Summer Heater $180 Big Stack for $370.
If she can survive long enough, Philips will lock up another $5,000 here at Borgata!
The 2019 Borgata Poker Open (BPO) continues tonight with Event #13: $560 Super Survivor No-Limit Hold'em ($75,000 GTD). What that means is one in 10 players will win $5,000! As an example, if the tournament drew 100 runners it'd stop when the field reached 10 players, each of who would receive $5,000. Survive and get paid!
PokerNews will bring you periodic updates from the tournament and offer a recap of winners upon completion.
The tournament starts players with 20,000 in tournament chips and late registration and re-entries will remain open through the break at the end of Level 8. Levels 1-15 will last 30 minutes each, and after that, they'll shift to 40 minutes in length.
