Cheong Down and Up
Two hands ago, we watched Joseph Cheong putting out a preflop reraise to 68,000 in early position. We couldn't tell what the opening action was, but we did see Ayaz Manji shoved all in for 229,000 over the top. Cheong thought it over long and hard before surrendering, and Manji was visibly upset that he didn't get action. "You want to see it?" he asked Cheong.
"I don't care," came the reply, and Manji left his cards face-down.
"If you said you want to see, I would have showed you."
A keen observer throughout the hand, Barny Boatman smirked to Cheong and told him, "It's not his hand I'm curious about."
One hand later, Cheong opened to 26,000, and Sergey Tikhonov three-bet to 57,000. He had 340,000 chips left behind, and Cheong four-bet shoved to put the pressure on him for the full stack. After a couple minutes, Tikhonov decided to surrender.
