Tough Table Spotted
As the room fills up plenty of empty seats are taken by famous faces and we just spotted a very tough table.
The first player we spotted was Byron Kaverman who recently finished 34th in the WSOP Main Event for $229,281. A few seats over we recognized three players in a row and they are all very accomplished.
James Dempsey is the one out of position in this line up, and he's also the one with the biggest victories in live tournaments at this table. The man from Brighton has a World Poker Tour and World Series of Poker victory and his live earnings add up to almost two-million dollars.
Next in line is Dan O'Brien who had a nice summer saver back in July when he finished third in the Venetian Deep Stack Main Event for $122,485. O'Brien's biggest result came back in September 2012 when he finished fourth in the Partouche Poker Tour Main Event for 341,991. In total O'Brien has just shy of 2.2 million in live tournament earnings.
Last but certainly not least we spotted PokerStars Sports Star who has both impressive results on and off the felt. Moreira de Melo made the Master Classics of Poker final table in Amsterdam back in 2009 and just missed out on the EPT Barcelona final table in 2012. Off the felt Moreira de Melo has a bronze (Sydney 2000), silver (Athens 2004) and gold medal (Beijing 2008) at the Olympics in field hockey.
In total Moreira de Melo played 191 games for the Dutch field hockey team and scored 30 goals. Right now her goal is to score big in poker and today could be the start of something good as she looks very relaxed and focussed at the same time.
