Joentausta Leads Final 55
Yesterday saw the final 168 players return to the felt at Season 9 of the European Poker Tour Main Event. The players popped the money bubble and beyond as they bet, raised, and folded their way into one of the top 136 cashing positions. By the end of five levels only 55 runners remained with Aku Joentausta retaining his spot at the top of the chip counts.
Joentausta is the man to catch during Day 4 play with his stack of 1.039 million but there are others close on his heels. Rounding out the top three are Emil Ohlsson (1.011 million) and Pascal Vos (972,000).
While the top three may not be household names, there are still several notable players returning to the felt today. The likes of Calvin Anderson (744,000), Olivier Busquet (719,000), Kevin Stani (681,000), Day 1a chip leader Ronny Voth (332,000), Liv Boeree (279,000), Bryn Kenney (229,000), Max Lehmanski (169,000), and Boris Becker (116,000) all have a shot at taking home the EPT Main Event title.
Yesterday's play also saw a slew of notable names hit the rail with a min-cash or more to their name. Mickey Petersen, Davidi Kitai, Ville Mattila, Jan Heitmann, Todd Terry, Salvatore Bonavena, Dominik Nitsche, Kitty Kuo, Barny Boatman, and Theo Jorgensen were among those to make the money.
Play will resume today with the final 55 players taking their seats at the Grand Hyatt Berlin. We will play down until the final 16 is reached. Be sure to stay tuned to PokerNews for all of the latest from the tournament floor!
