Timoshenko Sweats It

Level 15 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Ismail Erkenov opened for 12,000 and Yevgeniy Timoshenko moved all in for 70,500. The blinds got out of the way and Erkenov had a long hard look at the impassive Timoshenko. It looked like a borderline decision but he made the call.

Timoshenko showed him {a-Clubs}{j-Clubs} and Erkenov held {a-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}. Despite Timoshenko being suited it was he who was at risk and had a big sweat on the turn as the board ran out {2-Spades}{3-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{9-Clubs}.

Timoshenko survived but only added a small amount to his stack and is still short.
