Erik Scheidt just raised to 9,000 and was called by the player in the small blind. On the 
flop, a continuation bet of the German was called before the two checked through the 
turn. The opponent then bet the 
river for 23,500 and Scheidt folded, still having quite a decent start into the day.
The seat that formerly belonged to Gerald Karlic was now taken by Steve O'Dwyer and Scheidt confirmed that Karlic had busted before the break. Karlic three-bet shoved with 
out of the big blind only to see Day 1a chip leader Carmelo Crucitti look him up with 
as winning hand.
