Kolyasnikov Clinches High Roller Chip Lead in Final Hand of the Night
The High Roller began today and there were a number of challengers vying for the chip lead during the last level. It was Sergey Kolyasnikov who nabbed it at the very end, when he eliminated Jiayu Ruan in the closing seconds of the day. Kolyasnikov bagged 283,500 to finish in pole position going into Day 2 tomorrow, out of 79 entries.
For a while it looked like it was going to be Daniil Kiselev (256,500) who would finish on top, instead he will have to settle for second place. Right behind him are Anton Yakuba (244,500), Pete Chen (234,500) and Valery Yantsevich (196,000) who complete the top five.
With 33 players left standing at the end, there are many other big names still in the running who will be poised to challenge Kolyasnikov tomorrow. They include Team PokerStars Pro Ramon Colillas who finished on a very respectable 182,000, Leonid Bilokur (174,500), Oleg Vasylchenko (157,500), Petr Bartagov (150,500), Arseniy Karmatskiy (138,500) and Maksim Panyak (98,000) to name just a few.
There were also a number of notables that failed to make it through. Andrey Chernokoz, Viktor Kudinov, Tomas Fionn Macnamara, Anatolii Zyrin, Oleg Titov, Illia Korobkhin, Asker Aloev and Yang Wang were just some of the casualties over the ten levels of play. Some of those still have one re-entry left and with late registration open until the start of play tomorrow, they may well be back for another go then.
