Chidwick Gets Pressured by Mokri

Level 2 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Stephen Chidwick raised to 2,500 in the cutoff and was called by Kayhan Mokri in the small blind and Seth Davies in the big blind. The flop fell {a-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{8-Hearts} and the action checked to Chidwick who continued for 2,500. Only Mokri called and the {q-Hearts} landed on the turn.

Mokri checked again and Chidwick fired out a bet of 11,000. Mokri check-raised to 40,000 this time and Chidwick used a time bank before calling. The {4-Clubs} completed the board and this time Mokri opted to use a time bank before shoving all in. Chidwick used up another 30 seconds and finally decided to send his cards to the muck.

Mateos Sends Grafton to the Rail

Level 2 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Adrian Mateos raised it up from under the gun and Sam Grafton shoved all in for 18,000 on his left. The action folded back to Mateos who quickly made the call.

Sam Grafton: {k-Clubs}{q-Clubs}
Adrian Mateos: {a-Hearts}{q-Spades}

Mateos was in a dominating position and the flop of {3-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{2-Diamonds} provided no help for Grafton. The {4-Diamonds} on the turn and the {a-Clubs} on the river secured the pot for Mateos and Grafton was eliminated.

Kulev Flops a Boat to Stay Afloat

Level 2 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Tom Orpaz raised to 2,500 in the cutoff and Alex Kulev ripped all in for his last 13,500 on the button. The blinds folded and Orpaz quickly called to put Kulev at risk.

Alex Kulev: {9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}
Tom Orpaz: {a-Spades}{q-Hearts}

The flop fell {10-Spades}{10-Clubs}{9-Hearts} with the nine in the window to give Kulev a full house. The {3-Diamonds} on the turn left Orpaz drawing dead to the {8-Diamonds} on the river and he passed over a double-up.

Level 1 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Ben Heath opened to 3,000 from under the gun and was called by Sam Greenwood on his left and Kayhan Mokri in the big blind. The flop came {k-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{8-Hearts} and the action checked to Greenwood who bet 2,500. Both Mokri and Heath called to see the {5-Spades} on the turn.

It checked to Greenwood again who fired out a bet of 14,000 on the turn. Mokri still called and Heath stepped aside. The river was the {2-Spades} and both players tapped the table. Mokri turned over {9-Clubs}{5-Clubs} for two pair and Greenwood conceded the pot.

Expensive Bluff for Chidwick

Level 1 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Stephen Chidwick
Stephen Chidwick

A completed board of {a-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{2-Spades}{q-Spades}{j-Clubs} was spread across the felt with just over 40,000 in the middle. Stephen Chidwick and Seth Davies were heads-up in the pot and Chidwick fired out a massive over-bet of 80,000 from the small blind, leaving just 500 chips behind.

Davies announced all in for 81,000 and Chidwick instantly mucked his cards, leaving himself with the smallest single-denomination chip in the tournament. Just two hands later, Chidwick was seen leaving the tournament area as the first casualty on the day.

Thorel Scoops a Big One Early

Level 1 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Alex Kulev opened to 2,500 from under the gun and Jean-Noel Thorel called from the small blind. The flop came {j-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{9-Spades} and Thorel check-called a bet of 5,500 from Kulev.

The turn brought the {6-Spades} and Thorel checked again. Kulev sized up a large bet of 24,000 and Thorel countered with a check-raise to 60,000. Kulev called and the {9-Hearts} paired the board on the river.

Thorel checked this time and Kulev also knuckled the table. Thorel flipped over {a-Clubs}{j-Hearts} for top pair and top kicker and Kulev was unable to beat it.
