todaysfreak entered the final table as one of the shorter stacks, while DigitalBlitzz held a sizable chip lead.
DigitalBlitzz extended that lead quickly, scoring a massive double elimination that rocketed them over two million chips with just six players left. That lead was further extended to over three million chips, covering the rest of the table with five left before todaysfreak made their comeback.
First, it was their elimination of F4RTF4CE in 4th place that put todaysfreak into contention, as they now covered DigitalBlitzz by just under a million chips.
Just a hand later, DigitalBlitzz moved about two million at 50,000/100,000/10,000 in from the small blind with king-seven and got called by todaysfreak who held pocket sevens.
The pair held up and todaysfreak" had a massive chip lead over 2cOOp3 going into heads-up play.
todaysfreak would extend their lead to almost 10-1 heads up before 2cOOp3 chipped away and then doubled up to trim the lead to about 3-1.
It wasnt long after though that their roughly 30-minute heads-up duel concluded when todaysfreak got their opponents final 6 big blinds with pocket kings versus 2cOOp3s ace-six.
The kings held and todaysfreak was crowned the champion.
The Global Poker x PokerNews Cup continues for another week with qualifiers into the Freeroll Finale on July 7.
Event champions including todaysfreak will join a select group of qualifiers next weekend in that thrilling conclusion to the series, and PokerNews will again have live reporting coverage.
