Day 1b of the Heartland Poker Tour Golden Gates $1,650 Main Event saw 128 entries take their shot at joining the 16 that etched their names into the mix for Sundays Day 2 from yesterday's Day 1a. The day consisted of 15 40-minute levels, and at the conclusion of Level 15, Jason Su finished the day with 381,000 in chips to find himself as the chip leader.

After having a fairly healthy stack, albeit one that was more or less in the middle of the pack for the majority of the evening, Su vaulted to the chip lead with about 15 minutes of play left in the day after making a set of fives and getting a full double against Jason Johnsons pocket aces.

Two other players finished the day with over 300,000 in chips. Bobby Sanoubane (341,000) and Corey Williams (318,000) both find themselves in the top five in chips with two of three heats in the books. Jeff Banghart (286,000) and Greg Jennings (245,000) round out the top five from the day.

More notable players to advance from Day 1bs flight include Kane Lai (242,000), Rich Dixon (224,000), Jason Vanstrom (122,000), and Matt Livingston (95,000).

Many others were not fortunate enough to advance. Defending champion Wendy Freedman headlines the list of players such as Will Berry, Chris Moon, Nate Zoller, and Spencer Champlin who are expected to take their third and final shots at advancing on Saturdays Day 1c.

Like the first two flights, Day 1c will begin at noon local time. Come back to PokerNews to follow along as the Day 2 field is solidified.
