Matache Doubles Up in Huge Cooler
A pot of 7,000 chips was in the middle when Manoel Marques Santos led out for 1,500 from the big blind on a flop of 3?K?9?. Remus Matache was his opponent, in the hijack, and he raised to 4,100.
"Let me think about it," Marques Santos stated before he tossed in a call.
The 6? turn was then checked by both players, after which the 4? river completed the board. Marques Santos picked up 7,000 chips and threw them into the middle and Matache raised for the second time, to 17,000.
The action was not done, however, as Marques Santos three-bet jammed, covering Matache's stack of 42,000. Matache snap called and showed A?8? for the nut flush.
Marques Santos turned over his K?Q? for the second nuts, but it was not good enough to award him the pot. Thanks to earlier profit, he was still left with 35 big blinds. Matache, meanwhile, soared up the leaderboard with almost double the starting stack.
