Bloch Ends the Bulldog's Run

With the chip lead, Andy Bloch raised enough to put Orel Hershiser to a decision for all of his chips. Hershiser made the call and at the showdown, Bloch tabled {A-Hearts}{9-Clubs}, while Hershiser made his stand with {J-Diamonds}{10-Spades}.

The flop came {7-Spades}{9-Hearts}{6-Hearts}, leaving the Bulldog further behind. The {6-Clubs} on the turn was no help, and the {2-Clubs} on the river signaled the end for the former World Series MVP.

The hand was the last in a good showing for Hershiser, in his first NBC Heads-Up appearance. He'll take home $75,000 and a lot of well deserved respect for efforts here this weekend.

Hershiser's elimination sets up a semifinal match-up between Bloch and Huck Seed.

During the player introductions, Orel Hershiser revealed that he has utilized the advice of poker pro and author Mark Gregorich as he's progressed through the tournament.

Mark has a front row seat to the action as Hershiser attempts to beat his fourth straight heads-up opponent in Andy Bloch.

Blinds Are Up

The tournament's emcee has just informed us that the blinds are now at 5,000-10,000. Now that each player has, roughly, 15 big blinds, we should see an increase in the number of pre-flop raises from Andy and Orel, who are practically even in chips.

The Bulldog Doubles Through Bloch

All in for his tournament life holding {A-Spades}{5-Hearts}, Orel Hershiser stood up out of his seat to wish opponent Andy Bloch good luck before the community cards were dealt. Bloch entered the battle not far behind, producing {Q-Spades}{J-Diamonds} at the showdown.

The {A-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs} flop drew several "Oh's" and "Awe's" from the crowd as Orel strengthened his grip on the hand with a pair of aces.

"A ten on the turn gives me a lot of outs," said Bloch, as he and Hershiser awaited the turn, which was the {6-Clubs}.

Hershiser needed to dodge a queen or a jack on the river to stay alive and did when the {6-Hearts} popped off on the end.

Orel stole the chip lead away from Bloch on the hand, and now sits with 176,000 in chips to Bloch's 144,000.

Huck Seed Advances

On a board showing 2-3-7-3-5, David Benyamine put his tournament on the line after the river card fell. The hole cards were revealed and Benyamine found out that his pocket nines were no good against Huck Seed's pocket pair of twos that gave Seed a full house.

Benyamine will take home $75,000 for his efforts. With a win here today, Huck is now guaranteed at least $125,000 in prize money and will face either Andy Bloch or Orel Hershiser in the semifinals.

Let the Head Games Begin

Bloch will try to keep his name off today's "Game Ball"
In a classic show of gamesmanship, Andy Bloch has initiated the head games with today's quarterfinal opponent Orel Hershiser. Bloch, after being introduced to the cameras, revealed he was wearing a San Fransisco Giants jersey underneath his shirt (for those of you unaware, Orel was a former pitcher for the L.A. Dodgers - arch rivals of the Giants).

After a few chuckles, Hershisher retaliated with the classic hand shake fake out.
