Day 2 Comes To a Close
Wow, what a day of poker we just witnessed!
Day 2 of the Full Tilt Poker Merit Cyprus Classic Main Event saw everything. Double ups, sick coolers, bad beats, controversy; you name it and it most likely happened today on the felt.
So who had prosperous days? Well, for one Manig Loeser had himself an amazing day. He finished with 337,000 chips and that's the biggest of the bunch moving on to Day 3. Along with him, Chris Karagulleyan, Onder Ozdemirler, Van Marcus, Bruno Stefanelli and Mathieu Clavet also soared.
On the other end of the spectrum were some very big names in poker. Chino Rheem, Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi and John Racener all hit the rail before the day was complete. Jean-Robert Bellande also tasted the bitterness of defeat, along with Sam Trickett, Chip and Karina Jett, Nicolas Chouity and Sorel Mizzi.
Out of the 141 players that began the day, just 46 of them remained. The players dropped so fast throughout the day that the tournament staff allowed the players to vote to play less levels than planned. The majority was for playing seven levels instead of the previously scheduled eight and that's what happened. Even with one less level played, over 65% of the field hit the rail.
Play resumes tomorrow at 2:00 pm local time here in Cyprus and there will be plenty more action as the field approaches the money bubble. Be sure to enjoy the coverage all day long from the tournament floor as only PokerNews can provide it. We'll see you tomorrow!
