Haxton Doubles; Teska in the Lead
The action has slowed down quite a bit compared to the start of the day as everyone is looking to make sure they guarantee themselves some money. The short stacks have tightened right up but the big stacks are trying to take advantage of that. A couple of the big stacks collided in a pot with Chance Kornuth and Roger Teska duking out. Orpen Kisacikoglu opened to 325,000 and Kornuth three-bet to 1,100,000 on the button. Teska called from the big blind and Kisacikoglu folded.
The flop came and Teska check-called a bet of 800,000 from Kornuth. The landed on the turn and both players checked to the on the river. Teska checked again and Kornuth splashed in a bet of 2,750,000. Teska took a moment to think about it but dispatched his cards before his 30 seconds was up.
A few tables over, Cary Katz raised to 400,000 and Isaac Haxton shoved all in for 3,090,000 on his left. Edward Lin was in the big blind and moved all in over the top which forced Katz to quickly fold. Haxton turned over and was in a great position against the of Lin.
The board ran out and Haxton held on for a crucial double up. There are still currently 42 players remaining, just three off making the money.
On a side note, the last starting flight of the $5,300 Main Event is currently underway. Over the course of the three days thus far, there are a total of 789 entries. With a $10 million guaranteed prizepool, the tournament is hoping to attract at least 2,000 entries. Late registration will remain open for the first four levels on each of the Day 2s so there is still time to make your way to the Bahamas to get in on the action!
