Patrik Antonius Wins the 2018 partypoker LIVE MILLIONS Germany 25,000 Super High Roller

Patrik Antonius has won the partypoker MILLIONS Germany 25,000 Super High Roller here in the beautiful Kings Casino in Rozvadov, the Czech Republic. In total there were 51 entries of which 14 were reentries. All the high stakes regulars were in attendance but only the Finn managed to conquer them all to win the first trophy of the partypoker Millions festival and the first prize of 425,000. Runner-up, Joao Simao, the partypoker Ambassador, will have done his sponsor proud by going deep in the first High Roller of the week.

This was Antonius first live tournament of the year and what a tournament result it is for him. Antonius is no stranger to the high stakes action and this win gives him the sixth biggest tournament cash in his career. Antonius didnt take his seat until the last level of registration and that seemed to be the right choice for him, in hindsight. When asked if he was going to play the second 25,000 Super High Roller tomorrow, he said he was either going to play that or play The Big Game. The Big Game is a 36-hour long live-streamed cash game which can be viewed on the partypoker Twitch channel.

As expected, at the start of the day, many Germans took their seats at the tables. Stefan Schillhabel was the first to bust and reenter today after his pocket nines couldnt win against the ace-king of Nowak. Another German to bite the dust and having to reenter was Koray Aldemir when his pocket eights failed to beat the pocket aces of Simao. Kings Casino owner Leon Tsoukernik busted his first bullet when the pocket nines of Vladimir Troyanovskiy were proven too much for his own pocket sevens.

Felipe Ramos was another player who didnt manage to cash today when he lost with pocket jacks against the pocket queens of Farrell. Tsoukernik really found his Waterloo when his pocket fives failed to beat the pocket jacks of Simao. Quickly it became clear that the tournament schedule for today was going to change and play would continue until the final six players had been confirmed and then it was up to those players if they were going to continue or bag and tag to continue the next day.

Just after registration had closed Niall Farrell followed Tsoukerniks road to the rail when his own pocket fives couldnt win against the pocket jacks of Simao. Another partypoker ambassador, Patrick Leonard was sent to the rail by Aldemir when his ace-nine failed to win against Aldemirs king-queen who had flopped a king and turned a queen. Besim Hots aces got cracked by the kings of Albert Daher, Orpen Kisacikoglu had turned two pair with the king-ten but that wasnt enough against the tens of Schillhabel who had flopped the set. Daher was the final table bubble when he busted with tens against the aces of Dietrich Fast.

Manig Loeser then became the bubble boy of the event as he finished in eighth place with ace-king against the queens of Schillhabel. The first one to be sent to the rail with money was Dominik Nitsche who lost his ace-jack to the nines of Renato Nowak. The six remaining players decided to play down to a winner without any hesitation.

Fast was the next to leave the table when his king-deuce lost against the eights of Nowak. Fast took 75,000 with him for his efforts today. Next to sign out for today was Steve ODwyer, his ace-jack couldnt beat the kings of Schillhabel and he will probably also be back for the next high roller. Schillhabel bowed out after that when he shoved with pocket sevens and was called by Simao with the ace-ten. Simao flopped a ten to put an end to Schillhabels day today. Renato Nowak shoved with five-four (suited) and was called by Antonius with pocket nines. And the nines of Antonius held to eliminate Nowak in third place.

Simao started the heads-up challenge in front but ended in second place when he had rivered a set of kings but was beaten by Antonius who had rivered a straight with queen-jack. This is the biggest live cash for Simao, his previous biggest cash was $106,428 when he finished in fifth place in the High Roller during the partypoker MILLIONS in Nottingham.

This is it for today, the PokerNews Live Reporting Team will be back at noon local time to provide you with all the action of the second 25,000 Super High Roller!
