Start of Level 9 Chip Counts (full)

The field has just returned from its second break of the evening to coincide with the beginning of Level 9 (1,000/2,000/250). Fifty-three entries have now been recorded, and just 24 players remain with Ryan “simlSgg” Hagerty taking the chip lead after winning a massive three-way all-in with pocket aces to eliminate "maniacalmonk" and Jon “Jetsfan411" Borenstein on the last hand before break.

"MortySmith" On the Right End of the Coin

"MortySmith"
"MortySmith"

In Level 8 with blinds of 800/1,600 and an ante of 200, stacks got in preflop between "MortySmith" in early position and "upayformypennys" in the big blind.

"upayformypennys": {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds}
"MortySmith": {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}

Both players hit the flop as it appeared {q-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{3-Clubs}. "upayformypennys" had flopped a set, but was still sweating a nut flush draw as well as potential backdoor Broadway or full house outs. The turn {6-Hearts} was safe, but the river {7-Clubs} gave "MortySmith" the nuts and earned them the knockout to take their stack over six figures.

"upayformypennys" wasted no time re-entering, and received a fresh stack of 30,000 on a new table.

Sherrier Misses Out On a Chance To Triple

Brian Sherrier
Brian Sherrier

In Level 7 with blinds of 600/1,200 and an ante of 150, Brian “TopCreature” Sherrier jammed for 13,000 under the gun and "maniacalmonk" re-jammed for 37,800 on Sherrier's direct left. Action then folded around to Jon “Jetsfan411" Borenstein in the cutoff, who called all in for 23,500 before all remaining players folded to result in a three-way all-in preflop scenario.

Brian “TopCreature” Sherrier: {a-Spades}{q-Hearts}
Jon “Jetsfan411" Borenstein: {k-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}
"maniacalmonk": {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades}

"maniacalmonk" needed to fade the highest three cards in the deck for a double-knockout. However, the flop {2-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} gave both all-in players added outs via wheel and flush draws. The turn {7-Spades} left them one card away, but the river {k-Clubs} gave Borenstein a pair of kings to scoop him both the main- and side pots, eliminating Sherrier in the process and earning his knockout.

David "TheKing411" Coleman Talks About Big partypoker US Network WPT Online Poker Open Win

At the beginning of July, the partypoker US Network in New Jersey reached a sizzling conclusion when the WPT Online Poker Open, which combined fields from partypoker US, Borgata Poker and BetMGM Poker crowned a winner. The Main Event drew a field of 868 entries, generating a lofty $317,540 prize pool which surpassed its $300k guarantee. It marked the largest ever event for the New Jersey online poker network surpassing the $302,100 prize pool for the $320 buy-in partypoker US Network $250K GTD back on March 29.

In the end, it was David "TheKing411" Coleman who emerged victorious for a payday of $56,586. In addition to the first-place prize, he also earned a WPT Championship Trophy and an $11,000 prize package which includes entry into the next WPT in-person live event, the WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic, which will take place at Bellagio in Las Vegas ($10,400 buy-in), as well as $600 in cash towards travel expenses.

David Coleman spoke to PokerNews about the win.

Borenstein Onto Bullet Number Two

In Level 5 with blinds of 400/800 and an ante of 100, Jon "Jetsfan411" Borenstein opened to 1,760 on the button and Brian “TopCreature” Sherrier three-bet to 6,620 in the big blind. Borenstein four-bet jammed and Sherrier called all in for just under 26,600.

Brian “TopCreature” Sherrier: {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}
Jon "Jetsfan411" Borenstein: {9-Diamonds}{9-Spades}

Sherrier was poised for the double and the flop {a-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} left him needing to fade only running nines in order to secure it. The turn {q-Diamonds} locked up the double, leaving Borenstein drawing dead to the river {j-Spades} to be left with just over 12,800.

Moments later, Borenstein got all in with {k-}{k-} against the {a-}{q-} "SAMCROW" and wound up with the second-best hand despite flopping a set of kings, as "SAMCROW" ended up making Broadway on the river to score the bounty and send Borenstein to re-enter.

Hohner Enters and Chips Up

Ryan Hohner
Ryan Hohner

In Level 4 with blinds of 300/600 and an ante of 75, Ryan “TheSims” Hohner opened to 1,260 in the hijack and was three-bet to 3,000 by "Lanfeust," who was on the button. Hohner called, taking action heads up to a flop of {k-Spades}{2-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}.

Hohner checked to "Lanfeust," who made a continuation-bet of 5,700. Hohner called, and both players proceeded to check through the turn {6-Hearts} and river {2-Spades} to take the hand to showdown.

Hohner tabled {9-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} for two pair, nines and deuces, and "Lanfeust" mucked, unable to top it to result in the pot being shipped to Hohner.

"rounder1420" Puts "Allyoucaneat" To the Test

"rounder1420"
"rounder1420"

In Level 2 with blinds of 200/400 and an ante of 50, "rounder1420" was in early position and became the first of two limpers before "Allyoucaneat" pumped it up to 2,200 on the button. Action folded back to "rounder1420," who three-bet to 6,600.

Only "Allyoucaneat" called and action went heads up to a flop of {9-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} where both players checked. The turn came {6-Clubs} and "rounder1420" bet 4,970. "Allyoucaneat" quickly called and the river fell {5-Hearts}.

"rounder1420" shoved for the effective 9,900 that remained in "Allyoucaneat's" stack, and they thought for about 15 seconds before letting their hand go to result in "rounder1420" taking down the pot with their river shove.
