Day 1 Completed

Ryan "simlSgg" Hagerty Wins partypoker US Network Online Series Event #4 for $4,154

Ryan Hagerty
Ryan Hagerty

Wednesday night was Ryan "simlSgg" Hagerty's time to shine on the partypoker US Network, winning Event #4 of January's Online Series for $4,154.

The $215 buy-in turbo saw 85 entries generate a total prize pool of $17,000, and with five-minute levels, the event went as fast as it came. Hagerty was in the middle of the pack as the tournament made it into the money with 14 paying, but then found three consecutive eliminations when 11 remained to take the tournament to the final table, doing so with a sizeable chip lead he would use to eventually amass every chip in play.

"Wacek18" was the one to get out to a fast start, holding the chip lead for most of the 16-level late registration period. However, they ran out of steam and were eventually knocked out on the bubble by fifth-place finisher "King_Icon". BorgataPoker.com Ambassadors Katie "KatieStone" Stone and Daniel "leinad" Buzgon also appeared as if they were going to make runs, but Stone was one of the three knocked out by Hagerty shy of the final table and Buzgon became the first casualty when the final eight were reached.

Ross "thehebrewhammer" Gottlieb was another to make a late charge, bringing a big stack into the money before fizzing out when their pocket kings were cracked by the pocket threes of fourth-place finisher "xxx6395200xxx", while both James "Bagels" Lillis and Chris "rumpthumper" White also had hot streaks near the end before Lillis fell to White, and then White ran his ace-queen into Hagerty's pocket kings to seal the deal and earn Hagerty the W.

Chris "rumpthumper" White Eliminated in 2nd Place ($2,873)

In Level 31 with blinds of 25,000/50,000 and an ante of 6,250, all of the chips went into the middle preflop after Chris "rumpthumper" White re-jammed in the big blind over an open from Ryan "simlSgg" Hagerty, who was on the button and immediately called the shove.

Chris "rumpthumper" White: {a-Diamonds}{q-Spades}
Ryan "simlSgg" Hagerty: {k-Diamonds}{k-Spades}

White saw the bad news with his ace-queen up against a couple of cowboys. Nothing more than a pair of sixes came on board of a runout {6-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{3-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{6-Spades} to leave Hagerty's hand on top, and White was eliminated in second place as a result.

Meanwhile, Ryan Hagerty has taken down Event #4 for $4,154. A recap of the event will be provided shortly.

James Lillis
James Lillis

In Level 31 with blinds of 25,000/50,000 and an ante of 6,250, all of the chips had gone into the middle on a flop of {9-Spades}{6-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} with Chris "rumpthumper" White in the small blind covering James "Bagels" Lillis, who was in the big blind.

James "Bagels" Lillis: {j-Hearts}{5-Hearts}
Chris "rumpthumper' White: {q-Clubs}{j-Clubs}

The turn came {6-Spades}, and Lillis found a {5-Clubs} on the river thereafter but it was too little and too late as it had already been counterfeited. White's queen kicker proved to be the difference in the hand, and Lillis was eliminated in third as a result.

In Level 30 with blinds of 20,000/40,000 and an ante of 5,000, a series of bets and raises saw stacks go in on a board of {7-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{9-Spades}{5-Spades} between Ryan "simlSgg" Hagerty in the big blind and "xxx6395200xxx", who was in the cutoff.

Ryan "simlSgg" Hagerty: {8-Spades}{7-Hearts}
"xxx6395200xxx": {j-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}

Hagery was the one at risk for his tournament life, being covered by just 40,000. He was able to hold on the river {q-Hearts} and earned the double to take the chip lead as a result.

"xxx6395200xxx" found themselves with just one big blind, but has doubled a couple of times since and now finds themselves at 275,000.

"xxx6395200xxx": {3-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}

The flop {8-Spades}{3-Hearts}{10-Spades} spelled doom for Gottlieb, giving his opponent a set of threes that remained best as the turn {a-Hearts} and river {q-Spades} completed the runout to bring about his seventh-place finish.
