Mateos Doubles Through Pardo this Time

Level 19 : Blinds 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante

Adrian Mateos just limped in from the small blind and Juan Pardo moved all in from the big blind. Mateos instantly called off his stack of 815,000 and the cards were tabled.

Adrian Mateos: {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}
Juan Pardo: {a-Hearts}{8-Spades}

The flop came {k-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{j-Spades} and Mateos took a big lead with his set of jacks. Pardo still had a straight draw to hit but the {5-Spades} on the turn and the {q-Hearts} on the river were no help.

Two More for Davies

Level 19 : Blinds 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante

Seth Davies raised to 150,000 on the button and Adrian Mateos just called from the big blind. The flop fell {k-Spades}{4-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} and Mateos check-called a bet of 60,000 from Davies.

The turn brought the {7-Spades} and Mateos checked again. Davies pushed out a stack of T100,000 chips and Mateos quickly slung his cards to the muck.

On the next hand, Davies made it 135,000 to go and Juan Pardo defended from the big blind. The flop came {q-Spades}{4-Spades}{4-Clubs} and the two players checked through to the {j-Diamonds} on the turn and the {7-Hearts} on the river. Davies finally made a large bet of 270,000 and Pardo released his cards.

Pardo Slips and Davies Climbs

Juan Pardo
Juan Pardo

Juan Pardo opened to 125,000 in the cutoff and Seth Davies flat-called on the button to get things heads-up.

Pardo checked on the flop of {j-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{a-Spades} and Davies checked back. Pardo then bet 400,000 on the {3-Spades} turn and Davies called. The {4-Diamonds} river completed the board and Pardo put out a hefty bet of 800,000. Davies confirmed the amount and called.

Pardo showed {a-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} for top pair, but he was out-kicked by the {a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} of Davies to lose back-to-back pots to the player on his immediate left.

Mike Watson

Isaac Haxton open-jammed from the small blind and Mike Watson eyed the next shortest stack before calling off with around 750,000.

Mike Watson: {k-Hearts}{10-Spades}
Isaac Haxton: {a-Clubs}{10-Hearts}

Unfortunately for Watson, he was in bad shape as Haxton had him dominated. The board then ran out a clean {8-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} and the Day 2 chip leader made his exit in fifth place for $404,100.

Top 5 Poker Movies You Must Watch

Level 19 : Blinds 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante

Over the past century, poker has permeated pop culture, especially when it comes to motion pictures. Long before the Poker Boom, and even before the World Series of Poker (WSOP) was a thing, poker had already made its big screen debut.

Over the decades, poker fans have been treated to a plethora of poker movies, some good and others not so much. Some well-received poker films include the western comedy Maverick (1994), Survivor host Jeff Probsts debut film Finders Fee (2001), the improv-inspired The Grand (2007), indie comedy darling Hitting the Nuts (2010), and the high-profile Hollywood flick Mollys Game (2017).

All of those are among the best poker movies of all time, and if this article was Top 10 instead of Top 5 Poker Movies, chances are theyd make the final list. However, the PokerNews crew got together, along with input from social media, to determine the top five must-watch poker movies of all time.

Watson Under 10 Big Blinds

Level 18 : Blinds 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante

The action folded to Isaac Haxton in the small blind who raised it up to 130,000. Mike Watson called from the big blind and the dealer fanned the flop of {a-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{q-Clubs}.

Haxton checked to Watson who checked it back to the {7-Diamonds} on the turn. Haxton used a time bank and then splashed in a bet which got a snap-fold from Watson.

Pardo Picks Off Watson's Colossal Bluff

Level 18 : Blinds 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante
Mike Watson
Mike Watson

The biggest pot of the tournament so far saw Mike Watson losing the majority of his stack to Juan Pardo after a heroic but failed three-bet river bluff.

Action kicked off with Juan Pardo opening to 100,000 in the cutoff before Watson called out of the big blind. Watson checked on the flop of {9-Clubs}{2-Spades}{q-Hearts} and Pardo continued for 75,000. Watson called. Watson checked again on the {2-Diamonds} turn and Pardo checked back.

You may be asking, how did all the chips get in the pot? The river is where the real action began. Watson led out for 110,000 on the {4-Spades} river and Pardo used a time bank before raising to 440,000. Watson then pushed out two stacks of chips for a three-bet to 1,800,000.

Watson's raise sent Pardo deep in the tank and he used three time banks before calling. Watson showed {9-Hearts}{4-Hearts} for two pair, but Pardo had the {q-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} for queens and deuces and a better two pair to leave the Canadian as the clear short stack.
