Pols Apart

Another one bites the dust as Richard Pols and opponent reach the river of a {3-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{J-Spades} board, at which point we witnessed more action than a Die Hard flick. The shorter of the two stacks turned over {A-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}, but was soon given his marching orders by Pols who had made a straight on the turn with {6-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}.

Cagey Play

Whilst most tables have been happy to get the chips in, I did spot one interesting hand where two players adopted a rather more cautious approach. With the board reading {Q-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{8-Spades}{3-Clubs}, both players checked, the latter confessing "I don't know what you have so..." before tapping the table. It was a decision that saved him a few chips in the end, as his {Q-?}{7-?} was in all sorts of bother against {Q-?}{10-?}.

Left with Egg-er on his Face

Strangely, we're experiencing more level one all ins than we did during the opening level of yesterday's rebuy event, the latest man to prosper from some early ants-in-pants being Bernhard Egger.

With the board reading {5-Spades}{7-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{8-Clubs}, all the chips went flying in with Egger's {9-Spades}{6-Spades} in commanding shape against pocket eights. The board didn't pair, and Egger gratefully accepted an early double through.

His opponent, meanwhile, stormed off, unbeknownst that he still had 150 chips remaining, or perhaps so angry that he simply didn't care.

Table of Death

Our most fearsome looking table thus far, with players still trickling in, involves John Duthie, Liv Boeree and Luke O'Kelly. Woe betide anyone getting involved on that table.

Two Out of Three Ain't Bad

Erich Kollman has now taken his seat, and just a few minutes into level 1, Mr. Tony G also appeared, to a round of applause from the other players when he was announced by the TD. In our TD's immortal words, "Good luck and try to kick him out."

Early Casualty

Unless my eyes deceive me, we appear to be a man down already. We don't have any ID cards to go by, but I think I recognized the wounded soldier as Sebastien Guerlinze, who was an early pace-setter in yesterday's rebuy event.

Duthie in the House

As well as many of the familiar faces who went deep in yesterday's event, we have also been joined by EPT founder and Team PokerStars pro John Duthie, resplendent and as well groomed as ever.

Sponsored pro Liv Boeree is also looking mustard keen in the queue.

Where Are the Bounties?

Players are taking their seats even now, although the TD has announced that, er, none of our bounty players have made it out of bed yet.

No matter, it looks as though we will be proceeding without them for the moment, and hopefully they'll turn up before they're blinded away...
