Day 2 Completed

Tiffany Keathley Wins RGPS Tunica Main Event for $48,796

Level 26 : 30,000/60,000, 60,000 ante
Tiffany Keathley
Tiffany Keathley

Tiffany Keathley won the RunGood Poker Series (RGPS) $575 Main Event at the Horseshoe Tunica and will take home the championship ring and $48,796 in prize money. She topped a field of 632 players the largest-ever RGPS Main Event total.

She had the chip lead when the remaining five players agreed on a chop. It was a wild day for Keathley who was almost eliminated from the tournament when she got in a three-way all-in with Dan Lowery. She had pocket tens against the pocket jacks of Lowery. Another player had aces. She rivered a straight after Lowery flopped a set to win a huge pot.

A few hands later, she eliminated Lowery when he had aces and she had flopped trips. Lowery finished in 15th place. That propelled Keathley into the chip lead and she remained on or near the top for the rest of the tournament.

*Denotes five-way deal.

The day started with 135 players returning for Day 2 action. The top 67 players made the money and it was Jay Compton who was the stone bubble, after getting all in right before hand-for-hand play could begin.

The final table started with the final ten players and ten-handed play continued for some time. Justin Harvell was the tenth-place finisher when he got almost all his chips in against Walker Miskelly blind versus blind. Miskelly had him outkicked ace-queen into ace-king and won the hand leaving Harvell with less than his big blind. He was eliminated on the very next hand.

Justin Kelley was then eliminated in ninth place. He was also out-kicked in a blind versus blind situation against Sean Guidry with the former holding ace-nine against the latter's ace-ten.

It took a while for the next elimination and Stuart Breakstone was the eighth-place finisher. Dennis Thurman caught an ace against Breakstone's pocket jacks and then eliminated him a couple of hands later with queens versus Breakstone's sevens.

Guidry was the seventh-place finisher after he four-bet shoved on Keathley and got snapped off with pocket aces against his queen-high. He couldn't find a way to catch up and was eliminated.

Miskelly was the beneficiary of Guidry's misfortune and managed to ladder up. He fell in sixth place when he shoved the button with jack-high. He got called in two spots and was eliminated when Bill Latta turned the best hand. At that point the final five agreed to a deal.

As a result, Keathley won the largest-ever RGPS event and became the first Main Event champ of the "Game 7" championship season.

The next stop for the RGPS is Grand Casino in Oklahoma City from August 20-25. Once again, PokerNews will bring you all the updates from the Main Event next weekend!
