Congratulations to Joe Ciffa, Winner of the Seneca Niagara Summer Slam Event #2 ($10,151)
The 2014 Seneca Summer Slam continued Saturday with Event #2, a $300 no-limit holdem event at the Seneca Niagara Casino in Niagara Falls, New York. The event attracted 114 entries, and after 15 hours on the felt it was Joe Ciffa who claimed the $10,151 top prize and the trophy.
Ciffa was short stacked early in the day and signed himself up for the cash game list, but shortly before his name was called he hit a two-outer to double up and he never looked back. Ciffa is on the run of a lifetime having won the Bad Beat Jackpot at the Seneca Poker Room just last month for more than $67,000.
Ciffa defeated Dan Wagner heads-up for the title after a short heads-up match. The final table also included Chris Damick, Mark Roberts, Alex Rivera and Sam Guercio, who made his second final table in as many days at the Summer Slam.
Event #2 provided a slower structure than Fridays turbo tournament, creating much more play in the later stages. The top 15 players received minimum paydays of $616 after Araj Ham Imani landed on the money bubble, and from there Jimmy Thomson, Todd Saffron, Travell Thomas, Tom Smolinski and Peter Raimondi earned paydays but fell shy of the final table.
Seneca Poker regular Mark Roberts exited in 10th place when his was outrun by Damicks . Then, after Ciffa eliminated Dan Weitzenkorn in 9th place, Damick went back to work by eliminating David Schrader (8th place) and Alex Rivera (7th place) to take a huge chip lead.
Ricky Fuller busted in sixth place at the hands of Wagner, and then Damicks downward spiral began. His biggest slide came against Wagner when Damick had the on a flop. Wagner had the for a flopped flush, and after all the money went in on the flop Damick bricked the turn and river. He was sent to the rail two hands later by Guercio.
Four-handed play lasted 90 minutes as the short stack doubled up eight times in a row. Eventually, Guercio moved all in for his last 220,000 and Mike Camizzi re-shoved. Dan Wagner folded his big blind and the cards were revealed.

The board ran out and Guercio's run ended in fourth place.
Camizzi was the next to go when he shoved the into Joe Ciffas . That set up the heads-up match between Ciffa and Wagner with the stacks nearly even, and Ciffa put it away early when his held up against Wagners .
