Jerry Calvaneso took down the first event on the 2015 Western New York Poker Challenge schedule Friday.
Saturday, he made the final table of the second one, and although he had the chip lead at the final table, he finished seventh.
Today, Calvaneso is back at it again, looking to make his third final table in a row and has begun building the stack to do it. Moments ago he turned two pair with and was only too pleased to call when an opponent with put him all in.
Two pair held and Calvaneso has settled in for what looks to be another long day of poker.
Art Demmerley jumped out to an early chip lead in yesterday's $500 buy-in Event #2. In fact, he spent most of the day near the top of the counts, but fizzled out before the money.
Demmerley's back at it again today and just busted one short stack player on his right, calling with pocket nines against and finding a way to win a race.
Jimmy Thomson's really riding the roller coaster today.
He hopped into the chip leader chair early on after two big hands, then dropped half his stack betting pocket tens in a big hand that he eventually had to fold on the river with a queen on board.
A level later he's back among the leaders again having chipped up with a number of small but significant pots.

Joseph Elia just jumped into the chip lead getting the best of it in a three-way limped pot pre-flop to bust two players.
After the flop the action really took off as the big blind made it 2,000, Elia bumped it to 5,000 and the third player in the hand, Rob Davis, made it 8,000.
That's when the big blind shoved, Elia called and so did Davis. It was for the big blind, for Davis and Elia holding and the second-nut flush.

Kristan Mackiewicz made it 1,000 from early position and got one caller before the short stack in the big blind shipped it in for his last 2,350.
Mackiewicz re-raised to 8,000 to isolate and it worked, with the caller opting to fold. The big blind held and had Mackiewicz' dominated until she turned a queen to send him home early.
After a hot start Mackiewicz had dipped some, but is back in good shape now.
