Afriat is on Fire: "I've Got Two Unders"

Level 8 : 400/800, 100 ante

Eric Afriat limped in from middle position and action folded to James Ferguson-Renaud on the button. He had 2,275 remaining and moved all-in. The player in the small blind thought about it, and even cut out chips to call, but eventually folded.

Action was back on Afriat and he said, "I'll give you action. I've got two unders" as he tossed in chips to call.

Ferguson-Renaud tabled {a-Hearts}{10-Spades}, while Afriat showed {4-Spades}{3-Clubs}.

The flop came {k-Clubs}{5-Spades}{4-Clubs} and Afriat took the lead with a pair of fours. The turn was the {2-Spades} and the river was the {6-Clubs}, giving Afriat a straight and sending Ferguson-Renaud to the rail.

The WPT champion raked in the pot and sits comfortably atop the leader board with six times the starting stack just four hours into the tournament.

No Help for Huard

Level 7 : 300/600, 75 ante

Linda Huard was down to just 3,000 in chips and moved all-in from early position. Action folded around to Dat Doan in the big blind and he called.

Huard was the player at risk and was well behind with {a-Clubs}{3-Hearts}, up against Doan's {a-Spades}{j-Hearts}.

The flop came {k-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{7-Spades} and Huard still needed to hit a three to stay alive. The turn was the {a-Diamonds} and the river was the {2-Diamonds}, sending Huard to the rail.

Germany is in the House!

Level 6 : 250/500, 75 ante

Germany's Harald Sammer has taken his seat just before the close of registration today. The field is predominantly filled with Canadians, so it's definitely a treat to see a player from abroad in the field.

Sammer jumped into the 2017 World Series of Poker this summer for the first time, and cashed for over $50,000. His three cashes make up his entire live poker resume, with deep runs in the Millionaire Maker and a cash in the Main Event.

When we asked him how his summer went he laughed and said, "Well, I haven't been home yet." It's safe to say he's on a fun journey at the moment.
