Zeljko Krizan Eliminated In 5th Place (29,3000)

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Short-stacked Zeljko Krizan has finally busted out and is our fifth place finisher. Alessio Isaia opened to 32,000 from under the gun and once Jackson Genovesi folded, Krizan moved all-in for 102,000. The blinds got out of the way and Isaia made the call.

Krizan: {A-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}
Isaia: {3-Spades}{3-Diamonds}

The {2-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{8-Spades} flop kept the treys of Isaia in front but Krizan still had outs. That was until the {3-Hearts} landed on the turn to leave Krizan drawing dead. The {4-Clubs} river completed the hand and with that it was game over for Krizan and we are down to four in the main event.

Sampo Ryynanen Eliminated in 6th Place (23,300)

Sampo Ryynanen has been eliminated and is our first casualty of the afternoon.

Jackson Genovesi, who has essentially been running the show so far, opened to 32,000 under the gun and then called as Ryynanen three-bet from the seat to his immediate left. The {q-Spades}{10-Clubs}{2-Clubs} flop saw Genovesi bet 85,000 and then call when Ryynanen raised to 205,000. The {5-Spades} on the turn saw Genovesi bet 285,000 and Ryynanen quickly called. When the {10-Spades} fell on the river Genovesi moved all-in and Ryynanen went into the tank, stayed there for 90 seconds, took a drink from his water bottle and called.

Ryynanen showed {k-Diamonds}{k-Spades} but the cowboys were crushed by the {Q-Hearts}{Q-Clubs} in Genovesi's hand!

Alessio Isaia Doubles Up

Alessio Isaia just doubled up through Jackson Genovesi.

Isiai opened to 32,000 from under the gun only to see Genovesi three-bet to 92,000. The action folded back to Isaia and he tanked for close to two minutes before deciding to flat call, despite only having 250,000 behind.

The flop came down {6-Diamonds}[4g]{2-Spades}, Isaia checked, Genovesi bet enough to put Isaia all-in and he was called.

Isaia: {8-Clubs}{8-Spades}
Genovesi: {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}

Isaia was nicely in front but needed to avoid a king or ace or running cards for a straight. The {3-Diamonds} gave Genovesi outs to the straight but the {3-Spades} kept Isaia in front and he is back up to around 800,000.

Solid Start For Genovesi

Jackson Genovesi has extended his chip lead after a clash with his fellow countryman Alessio Isaia.

The action folded to Isaia in the small blind and he raised to 40,000. Genovesi called from the big blind and the Italian pair shared the {4-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} flop. Both players checked and the dealer put out the {7-Clubs} on the turn. Isaia, bet and Genovesi called.

The river was the {A-Diamonds} and Isaia went back to checking. Genovesi has shown a penchant for betting when he senses weakness and this was one of those times. Genovesi bet 66,000 and a disgruntled Isaia folded his hand.

Seat 5: Zeljko Krizan - 174,000

Zeljko Krizan
Zeljko Krizan

Zeljko Krizan arrives at the final table as the shortest stack with only 11BB. The 20-year old who hails from Montenegro is in his first-year as a professional poker player and this is his first-ever live cash, earned through playing his first-ever WPT event.

Krizan's tactics have been very simple indeed. Find the right spot and just get the money in the middle. When playing against the players of the ilk of Phil Hellmuth, this is the perfect strategy, and in fact he tripled up in the hand that resulted in the elimination of Hellmuth during day two, and also eliminated Tony G in 10th place during day three. Two quite impressive scalps for the man whose favourite hand is jack-ten-suited.
