Play has wrapped up at the Horseshoe Southern Indiana and our newest World Series of Poker Circuit Main Event Champion has been crowned. Robert Castoire won the title and a cool $107,022 in cash. It didnt come easy, as Castoire had to outlast a field of 313 competitors over the course of three days and two Day 1 starting fields. Even more impressive was that Castoire was down 11 to 1 in chips at one point during heads up play and came all the way back in dramatic fashion to claim his victory.

One of the most notable of todays competitors was Bernard Lee. He lost most of his chips when he called the all in of five-time WSOPC ring winner, Mark Pegasus Smith, on the flop. Lee held {a-Spades}{5-Spades} on a {5-Clubs}{4-Spades}{9-Hearts} board. Unfortunately, Smith held {10-Spades}{9-Spades} and held on to the lead through the river. Lee was unable to build enough momentum after that hand to make a significant comeback and was eliminated in 8th place shortly after.

Smith was in great shape five-handed to become our chip leader when he got his money in on the turn holding top two pair with {j-Clubs}{10-Clubs}. The board read {10-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{5-Hearts}{7-Hearts} and after a long deliberation, Castoire made the all in call with {k-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}. Castoire made it clear that he believed he had fourteen outs when he called but quickly realized he had only eight. The {9-Hearts} was one of them though and when the dealer put it down on the river, Smith was left with no more chips.

Heads up play started off with Bazely holding 3.9 million to Castoires 2.3 million. Castoire quickly even the score though and even took a slight lead when the biggest pot of the tournament to this point occured. Bazely limped his button and Castoire checked his big blind. The flop was {7-Hearts}{8-Spades}{q-Clubs} and Castoire check-called 60,000. The turn was the {4-Hearts} and again Castoire opted to check-call, this time for 135,000. When the {3-Hearts} hit the river, Castoire led for 200,000 and Bazely raised to 600,000. Within a matter of seconds, Castoire moved all in and Bazely had called. Castoire turned a strait with {6-Spades}{5-Spades} but Bazely had rivered the flush holding {q-Hearts}{5-Hearts}.

Left with just 500,000, less than one twelfth of the chips in play, Castoire was less than fifteen minutes away from his first WSOP Circuit Ring. He got it all in three times preflop and doubled up all three times. First his {9-Clubs}{7-Hearts} beat the {q-Diamonds}{6-Spades} of Bazely with a nine on the river. Then his {7-Spades}{7-Clubs} beat {a-Hearts}{9-Spades} on a {9-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{8-Clubs} board followed shortly by his {a-Diamonds}{7-Spades} out-flopping the {a-Spades}{j-Spades} of Bazely and holding on through the river. These three hands, which took place over a twelve minute span, gave Castoire the chip lead and put Bazely back on his heels.

Just a few hands later, Bazely raised his button to 140,000 and Castoire defended his big blind with a call. The flop was {j-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{k-Hearts} and it didnt take long for Castoire to open-ship all in with each of the competitors stack about even in chips. Bazely called immediately and tabled {k-Hearts}{j-Hearts} for top two pair. Castoire unveiled his {q-Clubs}{10-Spades} for an open-ended strait draw. The turn was the {a-Diamonds} and gave Castoire his straight. The river was the {10-Hearts} and Bazely was unable to fill up. The stacks were counted out and Castoire was announced as our champion.

Castoire Needs the River to Double Again

Robert Castoire and Jacob Bazely got all the chips in preflop again to put Castoire at risk.

Castoire: {7-Spades}{7-Clubs}
Bazely: {a-Hearts}{9-Spades}

The flop was {9-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} and Bazely jumped into the lead. The {5-Clubs} turn gave Bazely an inside-strait draw that he hit when the river came the {8-Clubs}.

After a second strait double up on the river, Bazely's chip advantage has shrunk to less than 3 to 1 over his opponent.
