While PokerNews is here offering live updates from the Main Event and High Roller, we’d be remiss if we didn’t tell you about the full schedule of side events that have been playing out over the past week at the World Series of Poker Circuit Choctaw Durant.

In Event #4: $600 PLO, 154 runners created a $79,310 prize pool that was paid out to the top 25 players. Among those to cash but fall short of the final table were Michael Perrone (11th - $1,375), Louis Barlow (14th - $1,168), Jacob Seale (16th - $1,020), Michael Le (18th - $1,020), and Lauren Bunch (24th - $425).

After placing seventh in this exact event last year, Matt Laessig rose to the occasion and claimed his first ring along with $20,773.

“Came here last year. Did my first Circuit event here last year. Had a blast,” mentioned Laessig. “Final tabled the PLO… Got busted seventh. Couple bad hands in a row and for the last year, I’ve been replaying it in my head.”

Laessig carved out his trip to Choctaw Durant and conquered. Going out a winner, he plans to return to his family and work in Austin, Texas on Monday

Brian Altman
Brian Altman

Brian Altman open-jammed for his last 150,000 and was called by Gediminas Uselis.

Brian Altman: {a-Clubs}{3-Spades}
Gediminas Uselis: {8-Diamonds}{8-Spades}

Altman needed some help but Uselis's hot streak continued with the {2-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{8-Clubs} flop giving him a set.

The {5-Clubs} on the turn gave Altman some life drawing to the flush but the {a-Hearts} river sealed the deal and he took his exit in fifth place.

Uselis Holds Strong for Massive Double

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante

Brian Altman opened for 35,000 on the button and Gediminas Uselis jammed for 444,000 from the small blind. Action folded back to Altman who went deep into the tank. After careful consideration, Altman called.

Brian Altman: {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts}
Gediminas Uselis: {3-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}

Uselis was ahead but Altman was very live two-suited overs but he didn't receive any help from the {9-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{2-Spades} flop.

The turn paired the board with the {9-Clubs} adding more outs to Altman's hand but it was Uselis who improved with the {3-Clubs} river to get the huge double up.

Lucky Sevens Once More for Uselis

Gediminas Uselis open-jammed from the small blind for 151,000 and was called by Jeremy Joseph from the big.

Jeremy Joseph: {k-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}
Gediminas Uselis: {k-Spades}{7-Diamonds}

Uselis was in desperate need of help and found it on the {10-Spades}{6-Hearts}{7-Spades} flop but it also paired Joseph's ten.

Lucikly for Uselis, another {7-Hearts} followed on the turn and the {5-Diamonds} completed the board on the river to give him the double up.
