While PokerNews is here offering live updates from the $1,700 Main Event, wed be remiss if we didnt tell you about the full schedule of side events that have been playing out over the past week at the World Series of Poker Circuit Harveys Lake Tahoe.
In Event #9: $600 No-Limit Holdem, 183 runners meant a $84,245 prize pool was paid out to the top 28 places. Among those to cash were Charles Woody Moore (5th - $5,341), Ken Baime (9th - $1,921), Dan OBrien (13th - $1,335), James Pupillo (22nd - $945), and Jesse Kertland (28th - $865).
In the end, it was HPT champ Alex Greenblatt coming out on top to win $23,678 and his first gold ring.
Just trying to play when you wanna play and not forcing it, you know, Greenblatt said of his success. Really have the desire, not just playing because you feel like you need to.
Despite the win, and more than $1.5 million in career earnings, the 27-year-old pro doesnt plan to be in the game long.
Im actually trying to get out of poker, he admitted. Im gonna try to go back to school. MBA is my plan right now. I just dont wanna be down-swinging when Im like 45 and have no options.
