WSOPC #16: $3,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Championship
Day 1 Completed
Samuli "BeastsSag_A" Sipila has made it a habit to win live pot-limit Omaha tournaments at a variety of different events around the globe. Now, thanks to his online prowess, he's added a World Series of Poker Circuit ring to his collection.
Sipila took down a field of 348 entries to win WSOPC #16: $3,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Championship for $185,492 on GGPoker. That score bests anything he's done live by a fair bit, despite the $775K he's accumulated there according to The Hendon Mob.
As far the WSOP Circuit goes, Sipila shines as an example of a player who would have never had a shot at a Circuit ring he's never cashed an event in that tour before this series but won one thanks to the festival on GGPoker.

1 | Samuli "BeastsSag_A" Sipila | Finland | $185,492 |
2 | Jarkko "Long Drink" Nystrom | Finland | $139,099 |
3 | d1eg0 | Israel | $104,310 |
4 | Bernardo "GGeKKo" Dias | Brazil | $78,221 |
5 | Arie Muller | Germany | $58,658 |
6 | Rishmague | Chile | $43,987 |
7 | Benjamin "dr100percent" Juhasz | Hungary | $32,986 |
8 | Kilian "Birdie Power" Loeffler | Germany | $24,736 |
9 | trubadur | Norway | $18,549 |
Sipila had a big stack early on in the day, but the incredibly swingy nature of the early stages saw stacks fluctuate wildly. Players were seen topping the chip counts one minute only to be multiple bullets deep moments later. Several used up three or even the max of four shells.
In the end, those reentries would make up more than 40% of the prize pool which pushed just shy of $1 million to far surpass the $500K guarantee.
Things didn't really settle even after the money bubble, as the fairly flat payouts encourage everyone to gamble for a big stack to take to the final table. Notables like Niklas Astedt, recent PLO ring winner Anson "Tara@0z" Tsang, Jens Kyllonen, Andras Nemeth and George Wolff were just some of those who blasted their way into the money but fell a bit short of the final table.
Kilian "Birdie Power" Loeffler knocked out the last two players to get down to nine and looked to be a major threat to Sipila's chip lead as he was just a few blinds back when they combined. Sipila grabbed position on him in the seat selection, and sure enough, they played possibly the most critical pot of the final table.
Sipila put the three-bet in with a double-suited ace-high hand in the small blind and flopped a pair of aces and the nut flush draw. He pot-called off when Loeffler shipped on him only to see he was behind a set of jacks. Sipila found a spade to make his flush on the turn and faded the redraw to take a huge lead.
Sipila turned the aggression way up with his lead and soon began knocking off short stacks left and right. He scored three eliminations in a row and had 75% of the chips three-handed. Victory seemed imminent.
Jarkko "Long Drink" Nystrom provided some resistance but had to get lucky when he got it in way behind with a weaker pair and weaker draw but spiked a backdoor straight. He then finished off "d1eg0" to get heads up not far behind Sipila.
Nystrom had the deal-making icon up since three-handed play but Sipila paid it no heed. An ugly misclick cost Nystrom a chunk of his chips and he found himself well down again.
He couldn't dig out of the hole, and the final blow came when Sipila's double suited rundown bested his double-suited queens.
The GGPoker WSOPC series continues in the coming days with several flights of the $1,700 Main Event, which sports a whopping $10 million guarantee.
The action kicked off with a button raise to 264,000 by Jarkko "Long Drink" Nystrom and Samuli "BeastsSag_A" Sipila raised the pot to 792,000. Nystrom wasted no time in putting his last 1,919,991 into the middle and Sipila called after a short consideration.
Jarkko "Long Drink" Nystrom:
Samuli "BeastsSag_A" Sipila:
Sipila took the lead on the flop and the turn further improved his hand to the top two pair and the flush draw. Nystrom was down to two outs and the river gave Sipila nines full to end the tournament in style. Nystrom has been eliminated in 2nd place for $139,099 while Sipila claims the WSOPC ring and top prize of $185,492.
