The Day's Action
The first hand was dealt at 2pm Eastern, and the field grew steadily through the registration period. As has been typical in these ring events, they broke the guarantee with two hours still remaining for entry. By the time the gates came down at the registration desk, 3,463 entries had combined for another destroyed guarantee at $692,600.
The only final table player to figure in the big chip counts when entries closed was 3rd place finisher "RunGood2323". They first appeared in the top ten stacks just before registration ended, and held their own through crazy post registration period. There were more than 1,000 players still in action when entry closed, but an hour later, they were in the money.
The fast play didn't stop there. Nearly 200 more players busted in the next 20 minutes, and two hours later, there were less than 100 players left. For awhile during the final 200, it looked like "ElBiastoPoker" might make a run for the trophy, posting a top ten stack, and even the chip lead at one point, but they ultimately fell by the wayside in 99th place for more than $3,600 in combined prizes.
Just over an hour later, they were down to the final four tables, and another hour or so later the final nine was set.
"Seiya2020" was the first to go fairly quickly after the final table convened when their jacks couldn't win a race against the ace-queen of "tepuseenFD". They played eight handed for a few more minutes before "stonecoldshark16", "Cartman992", "JakSkellington", and "rung00se" all busted in rapid succession, each falling victim to one of the two players who wound up heads up.
The played four handed for about 10 minutes with most of the chips sitting in the stacks of "BaccaratKing" and "tepuseenFD". "GaoniAn97" then bowed out in fourth when "BaccaratKing" got there with trip tens, followed by "RunGood2323" in another case of "BaccaratKing" getting there.
That set up heads up between "BaccaratKing" with the bigger stack, and "tepuseenFD". They played heads up for a little over 10 minutes, and "tepuseenFD" came close to evening things up. When they finally got it in, there was barely 2M between them, with "BaccaratKing" holding the slight lead. "tepuseenFD" had the best jack, but "BaccaratKing" flopped two pair with theirs, and took it down.
