Stepping Up a Geary

Adam Adler raised under the gun only for Jim Geary to reraise on the button. Both blinds ducked out of the way, and Adler called.

They saw a {5-Diamonds} {A-Spades} {J-Diamonds} flop and Adler checked it. Geary promptly pushed his last 700,000 into the middle. Adler removed his sunglasses and pondered for a while, but eventually folded.

A Good Time Being Had by All

Adam Adler raised to 155,000 under the gun, and one of his railers raised his beer in the air and called out, "I love it, I love it, I love it, everything about it." Everyone folded, and his merry railer cried, "That's my man, my man, Adam Adler," in case it wasn't obvious.

The next hand Adler got a walk, to cheers from his corner of the rail.

Geary Harb-ering a Grudge

Jim Geary stuck his last 570,000 in under the gun, and was immediately called by Anthony Harb on the button. Not looking good for the crossword king...

Geary: {K-Clubs} {9-Hearts}
Harb: {9-Spades} {9-Diamonds}

But...

Board: {3-Clubs} {5-Clubs} {K-Hearts} {10-Clubs} {A-Hearts}

The fisherman hat goes back on as Geary doubles to over a million to stay in the game.

Jonathan McGowan Eliminated in 5th Place ($116,833)

Oh well, it's all a bit of fun
Oh well, it's all a bit of fun
Wow, where did all this crazy action come from?

Adam Adler raised under the gun and Jonathan McGowan flatted on the button. Over to Anthony Harb on the small blind, who reraised to around 600,000. Adler passed, but McGowan announced all in -- and an insta-call later, they were on their backs for McGowan's tournament life. Most unexpected.

McGowan: {Q-Hearts} {Q-Clubs}
Harb: {K-Clubs} {K-Diamonds}

Both players stood up and sort of swayed nervously, grinning.

Board: {7-Clubs} {J-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds} {J-Hearts} {5-Clubs}

Thus we most unexpectedly lose Jonathan Cosmo McGowan in 5th place. We'll be done by dinner time at this rate.

Adrian Dresel-Velasquez Eliminated in 6th Place ($92,867)

Dresel-Velasquez - no more CTRL V for this blogger
Dresel-Velasquez - no more CTRL V for this blogger
Short-stacked Adrian Dresel-Velasquez announced all in -- and in the big blind, Adam Adler called.

A showdown!

Dresel-Velasquez: {Q-Spades} {K-Diamonds}
Adler: {10-Spades} {10-Hearts}

Board: {6-Diamonds} {4-Spades} {8-Hearts} {7-Hearts} {4-Hearts}

Raucous drunken cheering from Adler's rail buddies, and a thoroughly gentlemanly Dresel-Velasquez smiled, shook hands and went on his merry 6th-place way.

Rho Still Chip Monster

Touching his ear for good luck
Touching his ear for good luck
Peter Rho has picked up another pot, this time his {Q-?} {10-?} coming good against Jonathan McGowan's pocket nines on a {7-Spades} {3-Clubs} {10-Clubs} {A-Diamonds} {2-Hearts} board. The stacks are hard to see form the press corner, but it looks as though he's over 4,000,000 now -- nearly half the chips in play.

Back at the Table

Products have been successfully advertised, and they're back at the table. Except for Jonathan McGowan, who's still in the bathroom. No matter, cards are in the air.

...And McGowan has now sprinted back in, just in time for the second hand -- he got a walk. By the by first hand Geary moved all in from the small blind, but big blind Adrian Dresel-Velasquez wasn't interested.
