And So It Begins

Gary Jordak was one of the shortest stacks to start the day. He got his 4,000 chis in pre-flop with {a-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{9-Hearts} and was called by Bryan Andrews, who tabled {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{7-Clubs}. The board ran out {9-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{8-Spades}{4-Hearts}{3-Hearts}, not enough help for Jordak. Even though he made two pair, nines and fours, Andrews took the pot with aces and eights.

It was a similar scenario on a neighboring table with a different result. The short stack, Dallas Wottlin, had the aces with {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}. Raul Paez had {a-}{4-}{6-}{9-}, and Wottlin got the whole pot on a board of {4-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{2-Spades}{8-Diamonds}.
