Montgomery Takes a Big Hit

Scott Montgomery opened to 38,000 from the cutoff and was three-bet to 83,000 by Luis Rodriguez Cruz on the button. The blinds got out of the way and Montgomery decided to flat and see a flop, which came {5-Spades}{K-Spades}{7-Clubs}.

Montgomery checked, prompting a 94,000 c-bet from Cruz. Montgomery responded by raising to 205,000 and Cruz didn't take much time before announcing he was all-in, which was more than enough to put Montgomery all in. Montgomery counted down his remaining stack and slid his cards into the muck.

Following the hand, Montgomery is down to his last 270,000 while Cruz is up to 1,950,000.

Double Up for ElkY

Artem Metalidi started out the action by making it 32,000 preflop. Bertrand Grospellier was next to act on the button and he moved all in for 212,000. Andrew Lichtenberger folded the small blind and Simon Charette called from the big blind. Metalidi folded and thanked Charette for making the call so he didn't have to.

Grospellier: {A-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}
Charette: {A-Hearts}{10-Spades}

Grospellier held a strong advantage going to the flop, and a {3-Spades}{9-Spades}{j-Clubs} flop furthered it. A {Q-Spades} on the turn looked to be a great card for ElkY, but it also gave Charette an open-ended straight draw. A {6-Hearts} on the river allowed Grospellier to breathe easy as he had secured a double up.

Joseph Urgo Eliminated in 9th Place ($36,198)

Joseph Urgo - 9th place
Joseph Urgo - 9th place

Joseph Urgo's past couple of hands have been a rollercoaster, losing a big one and then doubling up a few hands later. Unfortunately the ride is over for Urgo. After moving all in Urgo received a call from his old nemesis Simon Charette and was at risk of being knock out.

Urgo: {J-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}
Charette: {A-Hearts}{K-Hearts}

A {8-Hearts}{A-Spades}{Q-Hearts} was probably the worst flop Urgo could have seen as an ace fell pairing his opponent and two hearts hit the felt giving him a flush draw to boot. Only the {j-Spades} could come and save Urgo, and the {6-Hearts} on the turn wasn't even close. Charette hit his flush and Urgo was drawing dead. A {k-Clubs} landed on the river and Urgo was eliminated in 9th place.

Urgo Finds New Life

Simon Charette opened a recent hand to 35,000 from under the gun, Beretand Grospellier folded the button and Joseph Urgo moved all in for about 175,000. The big blind folded and after a few seconds Charette convinced himself to make the call.

Joseph Urgo: {A-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}
Simon Charette: {7-Hearts}{9-Hearts}

Charette was hoping for two live cards, but alas Urgo had his nine out kicked. A {k-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{4-Spades}{Q-Diamonds} board was released and Urgo was awarded a double up, as his ace high was best.

Charette Cripples Urgo

We didn't catch the exact preflop action, however, Joseph Urgo opened from the cutoff position and got into a raising war with Simon Charette in the big blind. Charette ended up all in for about 660,000 against Urgo and cards were revealed.

Charette: {Q-Spades}{Q-Hearts}
Urgo: {J-Diamonds}{J-Spades}

The board ran out {9-Spades}{A-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{4-Hearts} and Urgo looked slightly sick after suffering the preflop cooler playing just four-handed.

Charette is now up to 1,350,000 while Urgo is down to his last 150,000.

Battle of the Bigs

Two of the bigger stacks in the room got involved in a pot together after Luis Rodriguez Cruz bet out 33,000 on a {6-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{A-Hearts} flop. Cruz's opponent Artem Metalidi made the call.

A {Q-Clubs} on the turn saw a check from Cruz and a bet of 83,000 from Metalidi. Cruz took a few moments to think it through before making the call. A {k-Hearts} on the river brought another check from Cruz and a large bet of 180,000 from Metalidi. A mildly disgruntled Cruz went into the tank, and took a few seconds before announcing call. Metalidi flipped over a single {a-Clubs} and Cruz showed {A-Spades}{9-Spades}. Metalidi took a few seconds before he finally mucked his last card.
