René Angélil Continues to Collect

René Angélil three-bet to 5,400 from the small blind after his opponent made it 2,400 from the button. The button made the call and both players were allowed to see the flop.

The flop came {6-Clubs}{7-Spades}{A-Spades} and Angélil checked. The button fired out for 4,000 and Angélil quickly made it 14,000. The button then grabbed up all of his chips and pushed them in the middle. Angélil only needed to put in about 5,000 more and he did just that.

Angélil: {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}
Opponent: {k-Spades}{q-Spades}

As long as a spade didn't land on the turn or the river Angélil would be awarded the pot. The {j-Diamonds} on the turn wasn't a spade, but it did give the button another out. Now any ten could hit and Angélil would forfeit the pot. The {2-Diamonds} river though allowed Angélil to breathe easy, as he had won the pot.
