Katz Moves in on the River

Level 23 : 10,000/20,000, 0 ante

Hand #35: Vincent Bartello raised to 50,000. Cary Katz made the call, as did Davidi Kitai on the button. The blinds folded. Everyone checked the {2-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} flop. The turn came {q-Spades}. Bartello fired the minimum, 20,000. Katz folded, and Kitai made it 100,000 to go. Bartello made the call to see the {5-Hearts} river. He then checked. Kitai kept up the pressure, this time firing 225,000. Bartello tanked briefly before calling with {a-}{q-}, but Kitai rolled over {2-}{2-} for a set.

Hand #36: Kitai raised preflop, and everyone else folded.

Hand #37: Kitai raised to 40,000, and Bartello called. Bartello checked the {q-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{10-Hearts}, and Kitai checked behind. The turn brought yet another heart, this time the {j-Hearts}. Both players checked through the river as well, which was the {8-Spades}. Bartello showed {q-Spades}{6-Clubs} to win the pot.

Hand #38: Kitai got a walk.

Hand #39: Katz opened to 44,000 from the button. Dimitar Danchev was the only caller. The flop came {q-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{j-Hearts}. Both players checked. The turn came {a-Spades}, and Dimitar kept checking. Katz bet 25,000 this time, but Danchev came over the top to 90,000. Katz made the call. The river was the {10-Diamonds}, completing a four-straight. Danchev slowed down with a check, and Katz took the opportunity to move all in. Danchev folded without much thought.
