Hand #8: McLaughlin Rivers a Set

Level 35 : 200,000/400,000, 50,000 ante

Ryan Riess started the hand with the button, and Mark Newhouse raised to 800,000 in the cutoff. Riess forfeited his button, Amir Lehavot surrendered his small blind, and Marc-Etienne McLaughlin defended his big blind.

The dealer spread {j-Spades}{7-Hearts}{10-Spades}, both players checked, and the turn brought the {9-Spades}. McLaughlin led out for 1.2 million, Newhouse quickly called, and the {5-Diamonds} completed the board.

McLaughlin led out again - this time for two million - and Newhouse leaned forward in his chair. With his left hand on his cheek, he studied both McLaughlin and the board before ultimately calling. McLaughlin showed {5-Hearts}{5-Spades} for a rivered set of fives, and Newhouse mucked his hand.
